‘Bringing Up Bates’ Fans Concerned About Lawson’s Dog, Duke
Bringing Up Bates fans have a lot of questions about Lawson Bates’ dog, Duke. There are a few reasons they’re worried about the dog’s wellbeing. So, what’s going on?
If you missed it, Lawson introduced fans to his German Shepherd puppy in August 2020. He called the puppy his new “sidekick.”
Since he added Duke to his family, Lawson has shared several photos of him on social media. Duke even has his own Instagram account, which has over 4,000 followers.
But the recent lack of updates about Duke has fans concerned about him. Lawson’s most recent post about his dog is an Instagram Reel he shared back in March 2022. So, it’s now been several months since fans have seen anything about the dog.
Below, you can see a throwback photo of Lawson and Duke.

In a new Reddit thread, Bringing Up Bates fans are discussing the lack of photos of Duke these days. One fan points out that Lawson and his wife, Tiffany Espensen, recently mentioned how their dog isn’t living with them in their home in Tennessee yet.
Someone says, “Who the h**l is watching this dog, Callie? They’ve been home for a good while now, why haven’t they gotten him. Can anyone in this family have a normal relationship with a dog.”
The Bringing Up Bates fan goes on to talk about how they feel that the Bates family’s dogs are just used as props.
Another Reddit user chimes in and mentions that they saw Duke in Alyssa Bates Webster’s recent YouTube video. Part of the video was filmed at Gil and Kelly Jo Bates’ home.
However, they note that Alyssa acted as if the dog was “aggressive,” which led other fans to wonder why the dog was at Gil and Kelly’s home with so many little ones all around. And Bringing Up Bates fans are also curious to know whether Lawson adequately trained his dog, especially around kids.
Others fear that the dog is going to end up being an outdoor dog because Lawson and Tiffany are currently working on building a fence and a six-sided kennel at the new house.
