Mama June Confronts Pumpkin, Attempts To Take Alana Back?
Mama June Shannon has rubbed her whole family the wrong way this season of Road to Redemption. Now, she has moved around the corner but did not tell anyone until she was settled in. Pumpkin and Jessica finally took a spin to see June’s new digs. Yet, they got far more than they bargained for and it is not over yet.
Mama June, She’s Right Around The Corner
It has been really hard to keep track of June this season. When it first began, she was still living with her longtime boyfriend Geno Doak, attempting to break free. She struggled with this for a very long time despite her daughter Pumpkin trying to help her. Eventually, she went MIA and then ended the relationship. Finally, she went to go stay in Georgia with Pumpkin but she already had a full house. Not only was she married with two children but she also had taken in two of her sisters. Her older sister Jessica had been staying there for some time after June had sold the title to her car. Additionally, their little sister Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson had been under Pumpkin’s care since 2019 when June was battling substance abuse.
June had promised Jessica that they would get a place together and she would get her a car but that was short-lived. After she and Alana did a gig in California, June headed to Alabama to meet up with a young man she met online. After spending 50K on him and that falling through, she found another man named Justin Stroud. Together, they returned from Alabama and she tried to reconcile with her kids. By this time, they were over her antics. She ended up crashing Alana’s sixteenth birthday, giving four family members Covid, and convincing Justin to move in with her. Moving around the corner seemed like the best idea but she decided to surprise the girls not knowing Pumpkin had a GPS on her until she showed up.
Who Gets Alana?
In real-time, Pumpkin gained sole custody of Alana back in April with Mama June having to pay $800/month in support. Yet, the show is still behind and this week has June and Pumpkin coming face to face. At the end of last week’s episode, June let her family know she had moved nearby. She had no idea that Pumpkin had put a tracker on her so, along with Jessica, Pumpkin headed over to June’s new digs to see what was up. Out walked Justin, her then-boyfriend-now-husband, and Pumpkin could not help but mock him. She said he looked like Sugar Bear, June’s ex and Alana’s dad while poking fun at the fact he was toothless. This week, however, the talk turns to Alana.
According to a preview from The Sun, June lets Pumpkin know that Alana is welcome to stay over anytime. This does not sit well with Pumpkin who has been her sister’s main caretaker since 2019. In the confessional, June states that Alana is still hers and she can take her back anytime she wants to. As for Pumpkin, she tells the cameras that she has worked her butt off to build this semi-functional family. There is no way June is going to disrupt that. As seen in a later part of the preview, Pumpkin and Alana are at a lawyer’s office so that Pumpkin can gain sole custody.
