Warner Bros. produces the series. David Nutter is the executive producer of The Time Traveler’s Wife, who was also the director and producer of HBO’s other breakout hit Game of Thrones. He is joined by Brian Minchin, Joseph E. Iberti, and Sue Vertue. This show stars Rose Leslie and Theo James as Clare Abshire and Henry DeTamble.

There’s an impressive ray of stars in the miniseries. The plot of the new show is focused on a love story that’s complicated by time travel. The characters figure out how they can defeat this pesky barrier. Unfortunately, HBO has decided not to continue the couple’s story.

On Friday, HBO released a statement to Deadline. The network shared that they will not move forward with Season 2 of The Time Traveler’s Wife despite the fact it had high ratings. HBO didn’t explain why they canceled the series.

“Though HBO will not be moving forward with a second season of The Time Traveler’s Wife, it was our privilege to partner with master storylines Steven Moffat and David Nutter. We are so grateful for their passion, hard work, and care for adapting this beloved book. We also thank Theo and Rose, and the rest of our brilliant cast for their heartfelt performances, which completely captivated audiences.”

Fans are upset over the news. They took to Twitter to share their feelings. Most of them agree that the network made a huge mistake by not moving forward with the popular series. They think it potential to be a long-term series. Now, they’re hoping it will get picked up by another network.

“It’s a bummer that HBO decided to cancel the show after 1 season despite it topping streaming charts & high scores on imdb and rotten tables,” one fan wrote.
