Is Kody Brown The Real Reason Meri Only Has One Child?
Sister Wives fans know that Meri Brown longed to have more than one child with her husband, Kody Brown. Although the couple was able to conceive a second time, Meri sadly lost the baby. After that, they never had any more children.
At one point on the show, Meri and Kody considered fertility treatments but ended up abandoning their plans.

Were Meri and Kody Brown’s fertility struggles real? Or was it just a storyline?
For quite some time, Meri and Kody Brown considered fertility treatments as an option. But in one episode, he ultimately told her that he didn’t think it was a good idea to explore that option any longer. So was it really Kody’s fault that they never had another baby?
On Reddit, one fan wrote that they were thinking about the time frame and had a few questions.
“Thinking about the time frame. Wouldn’t this have been after they had already stopped having sex?” the OP wrote. “The [doctor] asked about how often they were able to and they said it wasn’t a problem. Not making light of the struggles, but come on, you know how this works! Outside of science, no sex = no baby.”
However, reality television does fabricate a lot. Another user believed that this may have been a made-up storyline to keep viewers interested.
“I think that was a storyline constructed for the show,” they wrote. “Meri’s desire for another child may have been genuine but I definitely get the feeling that they were doing this to hide that their relationship was crumbling, if not already completely dead at that point.”
They do have a point — Meri and Kody’s relationship never really seemed to be what it once was after Season 1. The catfishing scandal and Meri choosing to legally divorce Kody so he could marry Robyn and adopt her children really seemed to make the relationship even worse.
So when did the couple stop being intimate?
No one can say for sure when Kody and Meri chose to stop being intimate, but one Redditor thinks they may have the timeline nailed down.
“I went back to check the timeline, and the tell all where she said they hadn’t been intimate ‘in about a decade’ was aired in Jan 2022, likely filmed in mid-late 2021,” wrote another user. “In Seasons 1-5 they discuss fertility options, and in Season 6 episode 8 Kody tells Meri that he doesn’t think they should try for a baby. This was aired in 2013, and maybe filmed in 2012. When she threw out ‘about a decade’ that could be 8-10 years, which fits with the timeline that when Kody decided they shouldn’t try for a baby, they stopped having sex.”
