‘Sister Wives’ Fans Create Safe Space To Understand Leon Brown
It’s definitely been a week in the Sister Wives universe. The only child of Kody and Meri Brown publically came out as trans and genderqueer this week. From now on, they want to be called “Leon,” or “Leo” as a nickname. They will also only answer to they/them pronouns from now on.
Many Sister Wives fans genuinely support Leon and want to honor their wishes. However, not every fan is exactly sure what their new identity means.
And that’s why one Reddit user created a safe place for others to ask questions. Keep reading to learn more.
Sister Wives fans open up a discussion board online to educate others about gender identity
When Leon Brown first made their big announcement, a lot of fans were excited that they were finally able to live their truth. However, they weren’t exactly sure what Leon meant when they said they were trans.
The trans community is getting a lot more acceptance and recognition these days, but there’s still a lot of ground to break. There are a lot of Sister Wives fans that aren’t quite sure what it means to be transgender.
“Some people had questions re: Leons post, and I didn’t see all of the questions but I thought it might be a helpful reminder that being trans sometimes means not identifying with how one was assigned at birth – not necessarily that they now identify as the ‘opposite’ gender (though it’s not actually the opposite),” one Reddit user wrote.
The user went on to say that fans don’t know how Leon and Audrey identify as trans. In other words, they don’t have to identify as men now. It just means that they don’t identify as female, which was the sex both Leon and Audrey were assigned at birth.
“Bottom line is everyone conceptualizes their gender individually, and it’s not something we can try to guess,” the OP continued. “If Leon or Audrey explicitly stated something let me know!”

Fans seem to be largely supportive of Leon Brown online
Luckily, it seems like many Sister Wives viewers are genuinely making an effort to understand and accept Leon. Even if “transgender” and “genderqueer” are new terms to them, many are making a conscious effort to understand.
“I really appreciate that this sub has turned into a space where people can safely learn about different genders and how people live and express them,” another Redditor replied on the post. “It’s genuinely super cool, and I hope it has a positive impact on the lives of the people here and the iives of those they interact with.”
