Hallmark Casts Andie MacDowell For New Series, ‘The Way Home’
Last month, Hallmark announced a new primetime series called The Way Home. This is a three-generation family drama series with a time-travel twist. Now, the network has announced the first casting, Andie MacDowell.

Andie MacDowell Returns To Hallmark In The Way Home
On Monday, Deadline reported that Hallmark has signed Andie MacDowell (Maid, Groundhog Day) to be the matriarch of The Way Home. This is the first new Hallmark series since 2016.
Here is what the publication said about the Four Weddings And A Funeral star’s new project.
MacDowell will play Del, matriarch of the Landry family and a pillar of the close-knit community of her small, Canadian farm town. She and her daughter Kat have been estranged from each other following tragic events that left their family forever changed and prompted Kat to move away. When Kat unexpectedly returns many years later with her teenage daughter whom Del has never met, the three generations of women embark on an enlightening journey to find their way back to each other and learn important lessons about their family’s past.
Moreover, this is a return to Hallmark for MacDowell. She previously starred in their former series Cedar Cove as Olivia Lockhart, a municipal court judge.

Andie MacDowell Is The ‘Perfect Del Landry’
When Hallmark went to cast the role of Del, they had some specific needs. According to Lisa Hamilton Daly, Executive Vice President, Programming, Crown Media Family Networks, MacDowell had what it wanted. “We’ve found our perfect Del Landry in Andie MacDowell.”
It was crucial to cast someone with the ability to handle the nuances and depth of the role and we can’t wait to see her bring Del to life.
When Will The Way Home Air On Hallmark?
Has Hallmark shared a premiere date for their new series The Way Home? Currently, it is slated to premiere in 2023. Moreover, they have not yet started filming. According to TVLine, production will begin in Ontario, Canada, this summer. Therefore, more casting should be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
Hallmark Will Air Three Series In 2023
Now that Hallmark has renewed When Calls The Heart Season 10, and has announced another new family ranch saga primetime series, Ride, they could potentially have a primetime series airing throughout most of the non-Christmas year. This could potentially bring in a slew of new viewers who may prefer a log-running series to individual romcoms or dramas.
