Lifetime’s ‘Jailbreak Lovers’ Stars Catherine Bell, Is Ripped From The Headlines
Catherine Bell is back on Lifetime, and in a Ripped From The Headlines movie, Jailbreak Lovers. Starring alongside the JAG alum in this “crate escape” is Tom Stevens (Cedar Cove, The 100).
Anne-Marie Hess (Imperfect High, Night Sky) wrote the script. Katie Boland (We’re All In This Together, Twins) is the director. Catherine Bell is an executive producer.
Jailbreak Lovers is based on an “outrageous true story.”
What Is Lifetime’s Jailbreak Lovers About?
According to The Futon Critic, Toby (Bell) has always walked the straight and narrow. She never ran a red light, married the only guy she ever dated, devoted her time to raising her family, and went to church every Sunday.
Therefore what happens next shocks everyone she has ever known.
After Toby loses her job, she decides to rescue abused dogs. Her non-profit then brings the dogs to the prison, where the inmates rehabilitate them. Her husband thinks this is a bad idea. Maybe he has a gut feeling?
He tells her, “They are dangerous people.” Toby’s response, “Doesn’t everyone deserve to feel loved?”
However, she becomes attracted to John (Stevens) a younger inmate who is in jail for murder. He has a knack for training the dogs. John says it is because she is a great teacher. He also tells her that he has been waiting his entire life to meet someone like her.
Not long after, the two become passionate lovers. Soon, they concoct a plot to help him escape. She hides him in a dog crate and smuggles him out of the prison, with no one aware of what is happening.
Soon, there is a federal manhunt looking out for the pair. They are like Bonnie and Clyde! But, can the lovers avoid the feds?

This Is Catherine Bell’s First Role Since Hallmark’s Good Witch
Lifetime’s Jailbreak Lovers is Catherine Bell’s first role since Hallmark axed Good Witch in 2021, after seven seasons of the series.
