On May 25, Evan took to Instagram to document a special milestone. He revealed that he and Carlin have been married for three years.
In his new Instagram post, he wrote, “Roller coasters are only an adventure because of the ups and downs… guess life’s kinda the same! I’m just glad I have you riding shotgun with me! Happy Anniversary! I love you more than you know! ❤️”
However, along with sharing the sweet message, he included one photo of himself and his wife, Carlin Bates. And this is what has fans asking so many questions.

This photo was taken during one of Carlin Bates’ many recent visits to the hospital. She has been having seizure-like episodes. They still don’t have any solid answers but are having tests done to get to the bottom of it.
Evan Stewart’s photo choice is questioned, and here’s why.
On the Duggar Bates Confessions Instagram page, fans are discussing the photo that Evan chose to use in the anniversary tribute. The Duggar Bates Confessions page allows fans to send in anonymous confessions about the Duggar and Bates families.
One fan wrote, “How does Evan think this is an appropriate picture to post for your 3 year anniversary. Also why are you smiling when your wife is clearly in pain and in the hospital. It’s sick!!”
Another fan submitted the same photo and simply said, “Oh Evan…”
In the comments section, more fans are weighing in on the post. Someone says, “I agree with you one thousand percent. This isn’t the first picture since Carlin’s been sick when it feels it’s all about him.”
Another says it’s “weird.”
“I thought it was weird to but I don’t think he has bad intentions I think he’s just kind of oblivious and tone deaf tbh,” adds one of Carlin Bates’ fans.
However, some fans argue he might have been trying to show that he’s committed to Carlin “in sickness and in health.”
