This project has been years in the making. Back on April 14, 2021, guitarist Brent Mason shared on Instagram that he was being interviewed for the documentary.
Spending the day @sound_stage_studios being interviewed for the upcoming #shaniatwain documentary. I played guitar on four of Shania’s albums and I’m talking about that and performing a lot of the signature guitar parts I created for all those songs. Pictured with me is my good buddy for over 30 yrs Paul Leim who played drums on all those albums.
A music industry insider, producer, and director Joss Crowley is making this documentary. According to Crowley’s IMDb, he has made everything from Behind The Music documentaries on Deep Purple, and Meatloaf, to Pink Floyd: The Story Of Wish You Were Here.
When Is Netflix Dropping Not Just A Girl?
Now that fans know about the documentary, when is it airing? Currently, fans on the Shania Twain online forum have experienced some issues with uncovering when Netflix will drop the highly anticipated documentary.
Originally, fans saw that Netflix labeled the documentary in the “worth the wait ” category. That means that this doc is forthcoming. Yet, Netflix has not announced a drop date. However, it seems that this information has changed.
One fan wrote shared that Netflix changed the status of Shania’s doc. “It was in the section “worth the wait” in France too but it disappeared a few minutes after…”
Another wrote, “It’s not showing up on mine!”
Could Shania’s home country of Canada be the first to air this Netflix doc? It doesn’t sound like it, as another fan wrote, “Absolutely NOTHING showing here in Canada.”
Netflix has the image of the documentary. However, there is no drop date information shared. That is because Netflix has not officially made an announcement.
It could also mean that they have not finished production on the documentary.
