‘Unexpected’ Season 5 Tell-All Part 1 Recap- June 5
Last week on the season finale of Unexpected, Taylor finally gave birth to her second baby. Unfortunately, she had to do it with Covid. She was such a trooper during her delivery and the baby was born without the virus. Tiarra had her party for Ella but still had not forgiven her cousin. As for Tyra, she was going to do whatever she wanted with Alex. Jason and Kylen left the hospital but he was awful the whole ride back to his house. He proceeded to never let her hold Xavier and dictate what she should do. Ultimately, she got up and said she was done. Now it is time for all of the cast to reunite as part one of the tell-all begins with host Ananda Lewis.
Unexpected Pre-Taping Drama
Everyone is in their individual rooms but there is already drama happening. Alex does not want to participate and Tyra’s mom asks why as her daughter storms out. He says he is not saying anything, he is just watching his kid. This infuriates her mother. Over in Kylen and Jason’s room, she is supposed to be leaving but he is throwing stuff at her. The dads are all in one room and they wonder where he is but he is not joining. They then start gossiping and ask if he really got another girl pregnant. It is time for the tell-all to begin with all of the moms and their mothers on the stage. Kylen’s mom is joining virtually as all of the dads are watching backstage. However, Alex is there but not participating and Aden declined to come.
They go back through the best clips of the season. After, Ananda notes that Kylen’s mom, Marie is crying. She wishes she had been there for it but Kylen maintains she only wanted Jason there. Backstage, the guys are asking what happened. Jason says he missed her water breaking then goes on about the epidural and fentanyl. Back on stage, she claims she is just as mean to him as he is to her. Jenna chimes in to say it is just toxic and bad. She admits she used to defend Aden like that. Marie chimed in to say that she does believe it was important for Jason to be there.
Preventable Situations?
There are a handful of grandmas there that were also teen mothers. Ananda has to ask if any of the girls were on birth control. Lilly admits she was on it both times and it failed her. Kylen admitted she forgot to take hers. Erica, Emersyn’s mom, wants it pointed out that the guys should have done something, as well but she gets attacked for preaching abstinence. She then says she was a teen mom and says she does not want to be in a “five-generation” teen mom family. This is a direct attack on Tyra, Tiarra, and Taylor’s family and they almost flip. They note they were all on both control but that did not matter.
Ananda asks if there is any news to share and Jenna bursts out and says she is getting a boob job in two weeks. Good for her. It is time for just Tiarra, Tyra, their mom, Melissa, and Tiarra’s baby daddy, Dee. Alex has chosen not to join but he is in a precarious situation as he has gotten another girl pregnant. Tyra said she would not be with him if that was true and the girl allegedly was getting induced on their daughter’s birthday. Ananda asks what she would do if they had this lady on video chat and Tyra flips. It shows this is holding up her life. She says he will always come back to her but Tiarra says her sister will always take care of Alex.
An Unexpected Fight
Though Tyra and Tiarra can forgive one another, they are not so forgiving of their cousin, Taylor. Taylor had planned a nursery theme and apparently, Tiarra copied the whole thing. Then, Taylor and her mom went on social media and said horrible stuff about Tiarra and it caused a season’s worth of drama. Everyone starts crying looking back on the footage. They have forgiven each other but someone no one can forgive is Jason. It is time for him, Kylen, and their parents to join Ananda. The moms cannot wait to watch this as they ask if they are watching Jason and his “goblin” as they call her. Kylen’s father, Mike is stable currently this is why he and Marie could not travel.
They do a flashback of their season and all Jason has to say is “that was a pretty crazy birth.” He says it is not fair to judge someone by a ten-minute clip. Ananda counters that by saying it was actually a whole season of him treating her horribly. He does not care what people think about him and Kylen shares they both apologized to one another. The girls in the back fail to understand what Kylen had to apologize for. So, what do Jason’s parents think of their son’s behavior during birth?
Justifying The Unjustifiable
Jason’s father, Scott tries to say that it was such a stressful situation. Jason claims he and Kylen were both hurt in the situation but the girls in the back can not understand it at all. Kylen’s dad also says he understands the point and again, the girls feel like everyone is walking on eggshells. Marie says it was wrong how Jason portrayed himself and she and her husband agree he could have handled himself better. Scott tries to say his age and immaturity are factors, but Ananda adds they have had a lot of nineteen-year-olds. This is the worst they have seen. Jason almost seems proud of that but then he says he will just walk out and the girls cheer for him to do so.
Kylen’s dad tells Jason to be a man and take care of his daughter though he admits he wanted to wring Jason’s neck. Her parents want to see her more but Jason and Kylen cannot drive. They would gladly come to get her. Jason’s last word, for the time being, is “shout out to my haters.” The girls are ready to beat him up but in the back, Jason is mad at Kylen for not defending him enough. He says he does not want to date her anymore and his parents just watch.
Unexpected Confrontations
The girls make a bet that the moment they all get into the same room, Jason will walk out. It’s about to happen as the couples get into the same room. The grandmoms are in the back watching and they note how Jenna is glowing sitting alone, something they want for Kylen. Ananda notes that she heard all of the girls rushed to the monitor to watch Jason and Kylen’s segment. Jenna shares it was to see if Jason was sorry but they did not think he was. They are more worried about Kylen and her losing her special moment with her baby but Jason loves the attention they are getting.
Jenna says Jason is like Aden but on crack and she admits she broke up with him months ago. The girls say they are tired of Kylen proving how great Jason is. It is scary and Kylen soon walks off. Jason follows and declares he got all the views and that none of them were popular, it was because of him. In the back, Jason’s father says “they would not have much of a show if it wasn’t for us.” Out front, the girls feel bad for Kylen because they feel like she is all alone. Jason will never change and some of them have been there, like Tyra.
Where Do They Stand?
The producers still want Jason and Kylen to go back out to the set. At the same time, the show must go on so they move on to Alex and Tyra. She knows she should let him go but she seems to like that he keeps coming back. Emersyn and Lilly both agree she needs to get rid of him and she is not a second option. Jason now asks if he can go out and make a closing statement. Kylen joins him and the girls are not here for it. That’s where they leave it.
Next week, in part two, Jason and Kylen return while Emersyn is mad at her mom for putting words in her mouth. Furthermore, her mother tries to go at it with Mason’s mom. Lilly and Lawrence hash it out and some major life shockers all bring this circus full circle. Unexpected airs Sundays on TLC.

kylen needs to get out of this situation. This boy cant even go pee without her. He has a major problem very abusive
On the show unexpected, unbelievable how some of these parents are. No wonder the kids are so immature. Especially Jason’s dad n mom, Kaylen is being abused. She’s so scared of him. What’s he gone to be like when that baby gets older. He will be abused it to. Eventually be in prison. He’s unbareable. You all need to get jobs n grown up n be a man. Livin off mom n dad.
Kick Jason n dad off the show I don’t want to see them.
This is my opinion they should induce labor on a teenage BOY. WHEN HIS GIRL FRIEND GOES INTO. LABOR,SO HE CAN REALLY KNOW WHAT IT IS TO HAVE A BABY. UNTIL THEN HE SHOULD BE WUITE
I was shocked how his parents said WELL it was just immaturity and they were not perfect at 19 either as if there is some excuse for this and they let him disrespect them as well. Keylons parents i sense and I could be wrong but I sense they are afraid if they say how they really feel their daughter will alienate them so everyone walks on egg shells. His parents should PARENT and stop making excuses and keylon should RUN and break up with him father of her child or not in my opinion. I felt sad for her parents when she says she did not want her mom in the delivery. She seems ungrateful for how much love and care her parents have for her and just sides with someone being abusive to her instead
Jason is an idiot. Im not a hater, just telling it like it is. Can this loser even get a job, or is he too lazy to try to support his family? He is not popular like he thinks, people are just laughing at him and cant believe the guy is just an idiot. What girl would even want to date just a loser who lives with mommy and daddy because he cant provide. The least he can do is get a paper route, but he probably isnt qualified for that job. Too bad his parents want to be his friend and dont kick him out to provide like a real man. I’m pretty sure he will be at home for the next few decades. Good luck to Kaylen cause she will need it, I mean she will never stand up to him. However the person who loses the most in the situation is the poor baby, having 2 parents that are totally screwed up, along with Jason parents who never taught their son right from wrong. Its really sad.
