Josh Duggar’s defense has filed an appeal following his sentencing on May 25. Keep reading for all of the details about Josh’s crimes, his sentence, and this new appeal.

If you missed it, the former 19 Kids & Counting star was arrested on child pornography charges in the spring of 2021. He then went to trial in November and was found guilty in December.

The content found on Josh’s computer was reportedly the “worst of the worst.” Some disturbing details about the content were released online. Despite this, his wife, Anna, reportedly believes he is innocent.

Josh’s family is allegedly blaming others for these crimes.

Now, he has been sentenced to 151 months behind bars. This is around 12-and-a-half years.

He will also have to follow certain conditions. This includes supervision for 20 years after his release.

Now, he’s waiting to go to a federal prison facility. He’s currently in the Washington County Jail in Arkansas.

Immediately following Josh Duggar’s sentencing, his legal team announced they would be filing an appeal. Now, that appeal is in. This had to be done within 14 days of sentencing. Because his sentencing was on May 25, this appeal was filed in a timely manner.

On Friday, June 3, Josh’s defense team filed an appeal, according to KNWA, which is a station local to the Duggars in Arkansas. The notice reads that Josh “hereby appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit from this Court’s Judgment in a Criminal Case.”

It also states: “Duggar respectfully provides notice of his intent to evaluate and pursue any and all meritorious arguments in his appeal.”

The document confirms that defense attorneys Justin Gelfand, Ian T. Murphy, and Travis W. Story will continue to represent their client.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens with this appeal. For now, Josh is still waiting to go to the federal prison where he will serve his 12 years behind bars.

It’s unclear what’s next for his wife, Anna, and their seven kids. Though fans and family members are urging her to leave Josh, her thoughts about that idea are unknown. So, some things are still up in the air with this family.
