Jeopardy! canceled for the new few episodes?

One fan took to the Jeopardy! Reddit to share a program alert with fellow viewers. This will affect the west coast fans who love watching the game show. First, fans had to worry about March Madness. Now, they have to worry about the NBA Finals, which kicked off in San Francisco.

“Tonight, the NBA Finals will begin airing on ABC stations, meaning that if your ABC affiliate airs Jeopardy! in the prime access hour (7-8 PM), the show may be preempted.”

A preemption means the show will air at a later date. Usually, in this case, a new episode of Jeopardy! will air in the early morning hours, typically during the hours from 1-3:00 AM. In this case, the Boston Celtics vs. the Golden State Warriors will take over the game show’s normal time slot on the west coast.

“You may want to check with your local affiliate to find the correct airtime of the preempted episodes(s),” the Jeopardy! fan warned.

That same also suggested that there could be another scheduling conflict in the near future. Since ABC/Disney purchased broadcasting rights to NHL games, that means it could air the Stanley Cup Finals instead of regular episodes of Jeopardy! While this information hasn’t been confirmed, fans should plan accordingly. Understandably, they took to the Reddit threat to voice their concerns and disappointment.

Viewers express disappointment over the scheduling conflict

Most of the Jeopardy! fans were upset about this announcement. One even shared a link to a video of the late Alex Trebek saying, “We don’t like preemptions.” However, one fan noted that the preemption mess will only affect those on the west coast. Another noted it’s unfair to them because of the NBA Finals.

This comes as fans are curious to see who will become the permanent host of Jeopardy! Fans have been making their voices heard on social media and here on TV Shows Ace. They are split between Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings. Bialik received the brunt of criticism more than her fellow male counterparts. Some fans have a feeling that Jennings will return in July 2022 to announce that he’s the new host.

  1. We Americans in the Heartlands have Jeopardy preempted by a NFL pregame show one and half hours before the scheduled football game. The pre game is not that important. Steve from Omaha.
