Duggar fans were happy to get an update from Jessa Seewald this week on social media. She revealed that her daughter, Ivy, celebrated her third birthday. Jessa Seewald Berated For Low-Effort Attempt

After seeing Jessa’s post on social media, fans and critics reposted one of the photos and took to Reddit to talk about it. Though she got some love for sharing about Ivy’s big day, it turns out that many fans are not impressed. They are talking about how sad and boring this birthday celebration looks for Ivy.

Someone says, “Doughnuts are great but I’m sorry this is just cheap and shows no effort.”

Another Duggar fan adds, “Cheap and lacking in effort is Jessa in a nutshell.”

One Reddit user writes, “This is just sooo sad on soooooo many levels!!”

“So sad just a generic store bought donut on a cheap paper plate- aim high Jessa,” says another.

Despite what fans are saying about the birthday donut idea, Ivy seems to be happy about the special treat and is all smiles in the photos Jessa posted.

  1. Jessa knows what her daughter likes. That may be a donut of her choice with a candle. Then dressing up as a Princess. Leave Jessa alone.

  2. Do people stop to think that maybe a donut is what Ivy wanted, and that maybe Jess’s knows her kids better than us? My oldest daughter requested donuts for her birthday, because she likes those better than cake. My husband gets an apple pie, because he likes that better than cake. And for most parties, people use paper plates. Some people have nothing better to do than be judgy.

  3. It doesn’t matter if she got a fancy doughnut or an elaborate cake to most children it means that they were super special. I’ve seen children that only get a celebration on 1st year and 5th or 6th year and 16. Jessa’s children know they are well loved and nothing else matters.

  4. Are you serious? Did she say this was the only celebration? Is she obligated to post anything at all? Or meet the demands of strangers that will trash her sister for spending too much money on shoes and then trash her for not spending enough on a 3 yo’s birthday? You don’t know what all was done for this child’s celebration and it isn’t any of anyone else’s business. Stop the hate of people who haven’t done a thing to you and worry about your own circle.

  5. A donut is fine for a 3 yr old’s birthday. She probably bought more for the rest of the family. I wouldn’t call that cheap. A dozen donuts costs as much as a cake these days but that’s not my point. I’ve seen days when I was lucky to be able to buy a donut. These girls seem very sweet and have been through a lot so why must you put them down. I still can’t believe TLC shut down their show Counting On. It was a clean family show and these girls are being punished for their brother’s sins.

  6. I say you do you! I don’t understand spending $100’s on a birthday party for kids. And each year you have to outdo the last and friends have to outdo what they did for their kids! STOP IT! Stop teaching kids they matter with things! Show them they matter with actions!

  7. So Ivy loves donuts and for her special day you think more is better? My family didn’t have cake we had our special pies. Nobody wanted cake. Chocolate pie for Dad. Mom wanted cheesecake. Mine Cherry pie and so on. You think they should buy special plates too. A normal kids party is 6 to 10 kids, she has over 35 nieces and nephews and cousins. Special plates are expensive. You know its not the surrounding around her, stuff that gets thrown away, its family, love and fun… Wow people mind your own business and let them be..

  8. Amen, amen, amen. It is absolutely ridiculous what people spend on BD parties these days. Children do not care. It is all for the parents. Ivy looks perfectly tickled with her donut. Jess’s did great! God bless her.
