Mama June Shocker, Courts Give Pumpkin Full Custody Of Sister Alana
Mama June has had an eventful few weeks. Now, in a major twist, a court has given her daughter Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird full custody of her youngest daughter. So, how did it all go down? Read on to find out exactly what has transpired.
Mama June Sacrifices Her Relationship With Her Girls
It seemed June Shannon always had a great and open relationship with her four children. As seen on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, she had no qualms when her daughter, Pumpkin shared she was bisexual. She was still fairly young yet June started to notice clues on Pumpkin’s (real name Lauryn) social media. So she sat down and had an open and honest conversation with her. She was completely comfortable with whatever Pumpkin chose to do and that helped immensely. Fast forward a handful of years. Pumpkin had started her life with her honey, Josh Efird but June was going down a dark path. She had split from her longtime partner, Sugar Bear Thompson. He had helped raise her kids and was also the father of her youngest, Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson.
June underwent a full-body transformation and ended up dating Geno Doak. Though it seemed to be an okay match, the two ended up spending all of June’s money on drugs. Alana soon needed to be cared for so she ultimately was taken in by Pumpkin. It did not matter who tried to challenge her, Pumpkin stepped up and became the mother figure. Finally, Mama June went to rehab, got sober, and left Geno. Though Pumpkin’s home started to become a full house, Alana was always a priority. Now, at almost seventeen, a major step has been taken in securing her future.
Big News All-Around
This has been an interesting and exciting time for Mama June’s family. Their show recently returned which fans were super excited about. Then, on May 19th, a source close to the family confirmed Pumpkin had given birth to twins. The following day, it was confirmed that June had married Justin Stroud back in March. Now, there is more news on the Shannon/Efird/Thompson front. Alana finally has a permanent guardian. According to The Sun, Pumpkin has been awarded sole custody of her younger sister.
The judgment was handed down back in April so right in between June’s wedding and the twins’ birth. “It is in the best interest of the child that the plaintiff is awarded sole custody,” per the judge. Starting May 1st of this year, June must pay Pumpkin $800/month until Alana turns eighteen in August 2023. Furthermore, Pumpkin can decide on visitation between their mother and Alana. Both sides agreed on the terms and the conditions. This is definitely a win for everyone as Alana definitely deserves stability and it has been amazing seeing Pumpkin step up the way that she has.
