Has Bill Maher gone too far?
The HBO Real Time host loves to share his opinions on social justice topics. However, the LGBTQ+ community says he went too far this time around. His anti-transgendered rant led to a call for a literal cancelation. David Kilmnick is the head of the nonprofit LGBTQ network.
On Wednesday, May 24, he shared an article in the Advocate titled: “Bill Maher Has Gone Too Far With Anti-LGBTQ+ Comments.” Kilmnick didn’t take kindly to the former comedian’s words. He argued that he “has spent over three decades fighting for the rights of our LGBTQ+ communities, particularly safe spaces for our youth.” He says that Maher’s antiquated joke makes it feel “like 1993 all over again.”

“We need to speak up and hold everyone accountable, even those who purport to be ‘liberal and progressive.’ That’s why I am calling for the LGBTQ+ community and supporters of LGBTQ+ youth to boycott HBO until Real Time with Bill Maher is removed from its platform.”
Goes on anti-transgender rant
On the episode of his latest show, Maher said that “we’re literally experimenting with children.” He claimed that they are receiving puberty blockers and other treatments that encourage the transition process.
Bill Maher also claims that transitioning has become “trendy.” He slammed Chase Strangio, whose a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union. Strangio supported the latest effort to ban a book from author Abigail Shrier.

Political commentator angers LGBTQ+ community
Bill Maher continues to anger the LGBTQ+ community. He also said in his monologue that “over time, the LGBT population of America seems to be roughly doubling every generation.” The crowd cheered as he spewed facts to back up his claims.
He also claimed that countries like Finland and Sweden refuse to give puberty blockers to children because of the unknown long-term effects. Maher argued, “that when you reverse the course of raging hormones, there’s going to be problems.”
Bill Maher wants to know why there is suddenly a surge of LGBTQ+ people. However, he hasn’t addressed the criticism over his monologue. Check out his controversial statements in the video below.

Yes, he has gone too far. Bill doesn’t understand that the acceptance of being LGBTQ has lead to more people coming out and that is what has lead to the numbers doubling. In the past, people were less acceptable and people were less comfortable coming out. Now with social media and more people supporting the LGBTQ community, more people are less afraid of being open about their sexuality. Plus people are sick and tired of hiding and want to be themselves in public. This isn’t rocket science.
No, Bill hit a bullseye. It is not people in their 20s, 30s and 40s suddenly declaring themselves ‘Trans.’ It is kids and teenagers who will follow a herd of lemmings over a cliff into the ocean if they can get ‘likes’ on Social Media. My son has kids in his middle school declaring themselves rabbits and squirrels and wearing little animal ears now, calling themselves, ‘Furries,’ and the administration is just staring at the ceiling whistling. Someday, there will be a reckoning for this horrible treatment of youth by their parents and the adults who should have stepped in and said, ‘ENOUGH.’
