How Mama June’s Daughters Really Feel About Her New Lover
Mama June Shannon is just getting over her bad romance with Geno Doak on her hit reality series. It took everything she had to walk away and return to her daughters. Yet she was not able to stay single for long. What do her girls really think of the new man in her life?
Mama June Finally Breaks Free
As viewers have seen, it has not been the easiest road for Mama June. After she and her longtime partner Sugar Bear parted ways, she underwent a dramatic physical transformation. It gave her the utmost confidence and soon, she found love once again. According to Hollywood Life, June met Geno when he remodeled her home in Georgia. He actually had a successful construction business though he also had a record so he was a mix of good and bad. Unfortunately, they would end up going down a bad path together which would include drugs and arrest. The two had to clean up their lives so they headed to rehab. Plus, June had lost custody of her daughter Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson who went to live with her older sister Lauryn Efird.
June tried to live a clean life with Geno but she revealed to Lauryn this season of Mama June: Road to Redemption the truth of her relationship. Apparently, he had been drinking an excessive amount and would become verbally abusive. It came to a point where she wanted to leave but was scared to. Finally, she broke it off after his sentencing and returned home to be with her girls. As much as she claimed she wanted to be with her family, they knew she could not be without a man. Mama already had a new one waiting in the wings but what do her kids think of him?
What About The New Guy?
Mama June moved on with Justin Stroud and they recently were seen looking at rings together. She spoke to The Sun about how her daughters feel regarding her new relationship with Stroud. Apparently, the two did not start seeing each other until six to eight months after she ended things with Doak. Her new man was arrested back in February for an outstanding warrant so that did not necessarily bode well for him. “The girls were at first standoffish with him. I mean I did just come out of a serious domestic situation, in a toxic situation, and the girls had to deal with all of that,” June shared.
The fact that she had been in a horrific situation added to their trepidation. They then saw her in a new relationship and it was hard for them. Now she claims they are cool with Justin. “They have grown to you know, love and appreciate him. They all get along now, I mean, he’s been a couple of family adventures with us and we hang out as a family. You know, they don’t have a problem with him.” Hopefully, this does not jeopardize June’s sobriety and they can all move forward in a positive way.
