‘American Idol’ Panicked Stylist Makes Ryan Seacrest Change Underwear

American Idol stylist made Ryan Seacrest change in his underwear. The incident took place during the live Season 20 finale. Seacrest suffered a “wardrobe malfunction” in front of millions on live television. She panicked, thinking everyone was going to see more than they bargained for.

Ryan Seacrest had to make a quick change

Ryan Seacrest is a man of many things. He’s the host of American Idol, an executive producer of many reality shows, and a television personality. He also became a quick-change artist on the season finale, which aired on Sunday, May 22. On the morning show, Seacrest shared he had to change into his underwear when his stylist noticed that his outfit was revealing more than he intended to.

“America voted and said there was anatomy in the shot,” Seacrest joked on the Monday, May 23 episode of Live With Ryan and Kelly, per Us Weekly. “We go to commercial and [my stylist Miles Siggins] says, ‘Can I tell you something? We need to change your underwear. I said, ‘What do you mean we need to change my underwear?'”

He recalled the “embarrassing moment” that almost took place in front of millions. The TV host admitted that he didn’t bring an extra pair of underwear with him to the finale. So, his stylist willing whipped out a pair of his own. Seacrest noted that he had “shorter, tighter ones.” He had to hustle and get the underwear on during the live show.

“It was in the middle of a live show! We go backstage during the commercial and find a little corner and I’m literally taking off my pants, off my underwear, and putting his on,” Seacrest continued. “…Anything for [American Idol]. It’s a family show!”

Wardrobe malfunction on American Idol Season 20 finale

Thankfully, the American Idol viewers didn’t notice what happened. Seacrest’s co-host Kelly Ripa joked about what she would’ve done in that situation. She would direct the cameras away from her. There is no way that the All My Children alum would’ve worn someone else’s underwear. However, the American Idol host was good about the situation.

“No, no, no. Change the camera shot!” Ripa joked. “I would have said, ‘You get that camera and put it from here up.’ I’m not wearing Miles’ [underpants].”

Seacrest has endured a lot of fashion mistakes and questionable hair moments while hosting American Idol. During the second season, a stylist suggested that he should wear a sheer shirt. He went with it, but later realized it wasn’t a good idea. Seacrest recalled his most embarrassing outfit in September 2018 with Us Weekly.

“It’s not a good idea. I should never do it. I don’t know if anybody should do it, but certainly not me.”
