Noah is going to be a very busy man. Because his summer is going to be more hectic than usual. The 20-year-old construction worker from Louisa, Kentucky realized his life changed when he became the winner of Idol. The small-town guy will have to adjust to his newfound fame.

American Idol Season 20 crowns a new winner
American Idol Season 20 came to an end on Sunday, May 23. Noah Thompson had no idea that he was going to win the show. After several weeks of auditions, competitions, themed nights, and emotional backstories, the show has its new winner. Sunday night’s finale was themed after the Boss Bruce Springsteen.
The competition came down to the Top 3: HunterGirl, Leah Marlene, and Noah Thompson. The first round kicked off with their final performances. Meanwhile, the second round featured the American Idol finalists performing their original singles.
After a series of performances by the contestants and judges, the season finally came to an end. It was time to crown the next American Idol. Noah Thompson was crowned the champion. He told Entertainment Tonight’s Denny Director that he’s still in a state of shock.
“I don’t know what to do right now,” Noah joked.
He’s the father of a young son. The singer initially joined this show so he could give his son something to watch when he’s older. Little did he know he would end up sweeping the entire competition. He also became an inspirational role model for his son.
“That, for me, that’s the biggest thing out of all this. Because, you know, I wanted to do this for him,” Noah continued. “I ended up looking up to my dad that way, so maybe I think that’s the best part of all this whole process. I think that’s what’s cool about it.”
What else to know about Noah Thompson?
Noah revealed to Good Morning America that he’s never flown on a plane before his American Idol audition in Austin. Now, he’s getting used to that method of travel. He had an interview with the morning talk show in New York on Monday morning (May 23). Noah quickly left the Idol stage to go to the airport to catch his 10 p.m. red-eye.
During the interview, he said he was still processing his win.
“Honestly, dude, I was just kind of numb,” Noah told USA Today over the phone in between interviews. “It blew me away. I just didn’t know how to feel. Anybody could have won this show, you know what I mean? I just didn’t think it was me.”
Before he competed on American Idol, he was living a “simple life.” He worked in the construction industry while raising his 1-year-old son, Walker. Noah tried out for the show even though he had no professional experience. He became known for his “raw” talent.
