Starting with the Hallmark synopsis of When Calls The Heart Season 9, Episode 11, entitled “Smoke On The Water,” we get an idea of the overall story for this episode.
First, Henry (Martin Cummins) is not a happy camper. The mine is going to open soon. He doesn’t see any of their plans working. This is a deja vu feeling. He knows that nothing good will come of the mine reopening.
Now, he feels he must do something very drastic to prevent another Hope Valley disaster.
Previous jailbird Lucas (Chris McNally) and Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) are having some major tiffs. This situation is so intense that Lucas has to head out of town to clear his head.

What Happens In The WCTH ‘Smoke On The Water’ Preview?
In the When Calls The Heart “Smoke On The Water” Hallmark Preview Video, we get more information on what is going to happen in this exciting episode.
Here is what the video shows.
The preview starts with Elizabeth speaking to Lucas. She seems about ready to cry as she confesses, “On my birthday, I thought you were gonna propose.”
Next, we hear Elizabeth say, “I thought maybe you changed your mind about us,” as we see Lucas go into his desk drawer and produce a ring box.
Next, we see Lucas hand over the ring box to a shocked Elizabeth, as he says, “Happy belated birthday.”
Things then switch gears. We see Dr. Carter (Andrea Brooks) and Nathan (Kevin McGarry) smile, perhaps even flirt at each other, at the ice cream bar.
In addition, we see the Canfields (Viv Leacock, Natasha Burnett, Vienna Leacock, and Elias Leacock) embrace.
Lastly, we see the oil executives. We see Fiona (Kayla Wallace) speaking to Arthur Gilchrist (Matthew James Dowden). “You are sure determined to reopen the mine.”
Next, Henry explodes when he shouts at the oil company executives. “How much did he pay you in exchange for the lives that will be lost here?”
Jerome Smith (Dean Paul Gibson states, “I was counting on Henry being the same Henry.”
We next hear a voice say “I was wrong,” as we see Henry look at the mine.
The last scene is of Little Jack (Hyland Goodrich) sitting on Elizabeth’s lap, sitting next to Rosemary (Pascale Hutton). Jack says, “Boom!”
Rosemary says, “Boom, indeed!”
Elizabeth ominously says, “That felt big.”
Then we see Lucas look up from his desk, Faith and Molly (Johannah Newmarch) stand up and look around, and finally, Elizabeth looks out the window.
