Fred Savage is currently under investigation for “inappropriate behavior.” The actor lost his job from The Wonder Years reboot. Savage first starred in the popular TV series in the ’80s and ’80s. Last year, he joined as executive producer and director of the reboot.
On Friday, May 6, Savage’s job came to an end. ABC fired him from The Wonder Years after allegations surfaced. A spokesperson for 20th Television, which produces the show, announced the news of Savage’s firing that same day. However, they didn’t reveal the nature of the allegations.
Fired from ABC’s The Wonder Years reboot
Fred Savage became a household name when he starred in the original version of The Wonder Years in the ’80s and ’90s. He played the iconic character Kevin Arnold. He just joined on as executive producer and director of the new version of The Wonder Years, which made its debut last year.
“Recently, we were made aware of the allegations of inappropriate conduct by Fred Savage, and as is policy, an investigation was launched,” the spokesperson for 20th Television said in a statement to NBC News. “Upon its completion, the decision was made to terminate his employment as an executive producer and director of The Wonder Years.”
Apparently, there were multiple allegations of misconduct that led ABC/Disney to dismiss Savage. This isn’t the only story of inappropriate conduct that has broken in Hollywood in the past week. There are also inappropriate conduct claims about the fellow movie and TV veterans Bill Murry and Frank Langella. Both actors are part of ongoing investigations.
Fred Savage was the subject of misconduct claims in the past
This isn’t the first time that Fred Savage has been the subject of misconduct claims. Those allegations have followed the actor for many years. In 2018, The Wonder Years star Alley Mills, who played the mother of Savage and co-star Jason Hervey’s characters claimed the show was canceled because of a “ridiculous sexual harassment suit” against both actors. They were 16 and 20 respectively, at the time.
During that same year, Savage was also under investigation for allegations by a crew member on the FOX series The Grinder. She alleged that he attacked and harassed her on the set. While there was no evidence to support her claims, this claimant and the previous one settled outside of court.
