‘Below Deck’ Love Match: Details On Gabriela’s Romance With Wes

It’s a Below Deck love match. Gabriela Barragan confirmed that she’s dating Wes O’Dell. She shared the news during their joint appearance on the Gangplank Report podcast on Tuesday, April 26. During their conversation, she shared the details of their hot new romance.

Quits Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3

Gabriela appeared on Season 3 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. She was a seasoned stew who struggled with her job during the middle part of the season. Gabriela also feuded with fellow stew Ashley Marti.

Then she found herself arguing with Chef Marcos Spaziani after he brushed her out during service. During each crew outing, she would get drunk and take out her feelings on the crew. She would wake up the next day with a hangover and a raging panic attack.

Gabriela pulled Ashley aside and told her that she wanted to quit. The two hugged it out and Ashley promised to keep her admission a secret. However, Ashley brought it up to Daisy during her break. Daisy had no idea that Gabriela wanted to quit.

Since the chief stew never settled the dispute within the interior team, Gabriela got more anxious with each passing charter. Even the two-day break the Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew got wasn’t enough. She realized she had to leave the boat. Gabriela pulled Captain Glenn Shephard aside and told him that she needed to focus on her mental health and interpersonal relationships.

Makes love connection with Below Deck alum

Wes O’Dell appeared on Season 9 of Below Deck. Some fans would say it was the worst season yet. He found himself at odds with the drama on the boat. Most of the season was focused on chief stew Heather Chase, who said the n-word during a crew outing.

Deckhand Rayna Lindsay wasn’t happy with Heather and her apologies. She felt like the crew wasn’t hearing her. Even though she became friends with Wes, she felt like her fellow deckhand didn’t understand what she was going through on the boat. Rayna drunkenly said one night that Wes “wasn’t Black enough” to know her experience.

Wes and Rayna’s friendship has been strained since then. Even though Rayna issued an apology on social media, Wes says that Rayna never personally apologized to him. Like Gabriela, he knows what it’s like to deal with boat drama.

Gabriela Barragan confirms relationship with Wes O’Dell

In an interview with the Gangplank Report, Gabriela confirmed that she and Wes have found love. They met on a boat they worked on together. In the interview, the Below Deck Sailing Yacht alum revealed how they developed a relationship.

“It was really cute. In St. Thomas, they wear these bangle bracelets. It has like a little horseshoe on it — or like a hook. And if it’s facing outward, it means you’re open. And if it’s facing the other way, it means that you’re taken. So when he gave me the bracelet, he put it on me with the horseshoe, meaning closed. And I looked at him like, ‘Oh!’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah.’ I was like, ‘Awww, that’s so cute.'”

Gabriela noticed how patient Wes is with her. He also helped her feel more comfortable with working in the yachting industry again. The Below Deck alum was in a string of abusive relationships before she met Wes. She loves how supportive Wes is in both their relationship and her career.
