Love Island alum Shaughna Phillips fell apart after a huge milestone. The 28-year-old previously admitted to “not being able to afford rent.” She got emotional as she shared the news that she purchased a new home. Shaughna took to Twitter to share the news with her followers.

The former reality star struggled to put a roof over her head just years before she competed in the popular dating series. Thankfully, Shaughna doesn’t have to deal with that nightmare anymore. Now, she has the house of her dreams. Despite her past struggles, the Instagram influencer got her life together and was willing to make it work.

Earlier this week, Shaugna Phillips took to Twitter to share the news with her followers. After struggling for most of her life, she finally purchased a home. Shaughna shared an emotional story with her fans. Thanks to her appearance on Love Island, her life has changed around for the better.

“My mortgage has been approved. I could cry. Before Love Island, I couldn’t even afford to rent on my own, now I’m here, with a mortgage, on my own, before I’m 30. I am so f***ing grateful. I can’t even put it into words. I don’t ever forget how fortunate I am, and how lucky I’ve been. I will never ever take it for granted. Just thank you really.”

This comes after Shaughna compared herself to her Love Island contemporaries. Per The Sun, she claimed that while Molly-Mae Hague also achieved success, she doesn’t have the life experience that she exhibits. Some fans dubbed Shaughna “tone-deaf,” after she claimed that everyone in life have an equal opportunity to achieve success.

Shaughna also jokingly tweeted, “If you’re poor, just don’t be poor.” In lieu of those recent tweets, Shaugna received criticism for bragging about purchasing a home. Some Love Island fans claimed that she doesn’t have a real job in spite of her huge milestone. Most of the Love Island alumni make their money from sponsorships and modeling campaigns.

Love Island alum fights back at critics

The curvaceous beauty caught wind of the backlash. She took to Twitter to respond to the critics who tried to ruin her good mood. One troll claimed that “appearing on TV is not a real job.” Then they encouraged the former Love Island contestant to “work a day laying bricks and you’ll deserve that mortgage like my husband.”

The same user also advised Shaughna and her followers to “be vegan” and “stay in school.” The model responded to the troll’s criticism. She simply laughed off the unsolicited advice she received. It’s common for the contestants from Love Island to receive backlash for the jobs they take up after the show.

“So according to Karen’s logic (very apt name) I don’t deserve my mortgage because I don’t have a real job and I should have stayed in school lol,” Shaughna responded. “Thankfully I don’t need a husband to get a mortgage though, Kaz, I’ve got my own.”
