How Did ‘Survivor’ Fan Favorite Ralph Kiser Die?

The Survivor community is currently mourning the loss of a fan-favorite player. That player is Ralph Kiser. Ralph is a Virginia native and very notable competitor from the 22nd season of the show. Redemption Island. The announcement of Ralph’s death came Wednesday, April 20th, 2022. He was 56 years old.

In the wake of Ralph’s passing many Survivor fans are wondering why he’s gone. 56 years is getting on the older side of things, but certainly still too young. Recently, more information came to light about why Ralph is no longer with us.

Ralph’s family confirms that a heart attack is what ultimately took Ralph’s life. It was an unexpected event that happened very early in the morning. Thoughts and prayers to all of Ralph’s family and friends at this difficult time. His personality on Survivor: Redemption Island was always positive and humorous. Ralph had that larger-than-life southern boy charm that made nearly everyone on his season enjoy his presence.

On top of Ralph’s solid social standing, he was also a great player of the game overall. He found an immunity idol early on in the game and is a key player in Russell Hantz’s elimination. His elimination inevitably came at the hands of Boston Rob’s godfather alliance. Ralph was a great player with a lot of potential to make it far in the game. Ultimately, his Survivor fate was the result of the wrong tribe at the wrong time.

Russell Hantz, one of Ralph’s notorious tribemates, sent out his condolences via his Twitter yesterday.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Ralph Kiser from Redemption Island. RIP Ralph!”

A ‘Survivor’ Legend

Ralph made himself a fan-favorite and Survivor legend after only playing one season. That’s an impressive feat. And it’s a shame that Ralph never got an invite to return and play again. Fans definitely would have liked to see him compete on a season without such lopsided numbers.

As time passes, we lose more and more of our favorite Survivor players. In the past few years, we’ve lost about a half-dozen. From former NBA player Cliff Robinson to Millenials vs Gen X finalist Sunday Burnquist. As each one passes on we’re reminded of how much we enjoy the brief window into their lives and personalities we were given via the show. They may be gone, but Survivor diehard fans will certainly always remember them as they rewatch the old seasons for the millionth time around. Rest in peace Ralph Kiser.
