‘American Idol’ Christian Guardino Overcomes & Does Big Things

American Idol contestant Christian Guardino overcame his challenges and is now doing big things. He’s one of the incredible group of talented singers who made it to the Top 20 on Season 20. This season has had the most gifted musicians the show’s ever seen. It’s hard to keep them all on the show.

Unfortunately, some of them have to go home each week. Christian has been one of the singers to watch since the start of the season. The 21-year-old singer has never let his struggles from holding him back. He defied the obstacles and accomplished his dreams up to this point.

Who is Christian Guardino?

Christian Guardino doesn’t let anything get to him. He joined American Idol Season 20 in an effort to follow his dreams. He auditioned for the ABC show by performing his rendition of “A Song For You” by Donny Hathaway. The judges wanted to include his mom in his big moment.

All four judges had nothing but kind words to say about Christian. At the time of this writing, Christian’s American Idol audition video has over 1.4 million views. He has gone on to perform songs from Billie Eilish, Silk Sonic, among others. For the Top 20 performances, Christian made everyone emotional with his cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine.”

It was the performance that both the judges and audience needed. Katy Perry choked back tears when he sang. That’s because Christian has an inspirational story that touches fans. According to Hollywood Life, his doctors diagnosed him with Leber congenital amaurosis, a rare genetic eye disorder, when he was just an infant.

Christian was legally blind for years. His eyesight continues to worsen, but that hasn’t stopped him from singing. He underwent a gene therapy trial when he was a teenager so he could restore most of his sight. The treatment was met with success and has allowed him to pursue his dreams.

Christian isn’t new to the reality TV circuit. He was also a contestant on America’s Got Talent Season 12. Judge Howie Mandel pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending him to the live shows. Unfortunately, Christian was eliminated during the semi-finals.

Placing his bests on American Idol

Now, Christian is placing his bets on American Idol. He’s hoping that he can win over a legion of fans. He’s already a professional singer who’s released original songs such as “Missing Part Of Me,” “Waiting,” and “Wishful Thinking.” He dropped his latest single titled “Poison Ivy.”

Christian hasn’t tried performing his original music on American Idol — yet. But it could still happen. That move would set him ahead of his competition.
