American Idol contestant Cameron Whitcomb hinted at a return after his elimination. He became known for his infectious personality, on and off the stage. His strong vocals impressed viewers and helped him quickly become a fan favorite. Unfortunately, they had to say goodbye to him on Monday, April 18.

The eviction took place during the latest episode of the singing competition. The Top 20 contestant may have been eliminated from the show. However, Cameron feels good about his future. He hinted that this isn’t the last time they will hear from him. The 18-year-old has a bright future ahead of him thanks to his bubbly personality and raw talent.

Cameron Whitcomb’s journey comes to an end

American Idol Season 20 Top 20 showed the end of Cameron Whitcomb’s journey. He hails from Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Cameron’s bold personality has won him over with fans. His backflip became his signature move.

Cameron shocked judges during his American Idol audition because his singing voice was strikingly different from his speaking voice. He admitted that he had never sung in front of people before. He also never had professional vocal lessons.

Judge Lionel Richie wasn’t completely sold on Cameron. He felt the young man needed more time before competing on American Idol. Despite his concerns, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan felt that Cameron had raw potential. They gave him the golden ticket to Hollywood.

Cameron performed his rendition of Bob Dylan’s “It Ain’t Me Babe.” It landed him in the Top 24 of American Idol. He worked with his mentor, pop star Bebe Rexha, for his performance. But he struggled with her and didn’t heed her advice about calming down his onstage presence. Even though he didn’t listen to his mentor, he still made it through to the Top 20.

During that time, Cameron performed “Changes” by Black Sabbath. Cameron finally found his footing on American Idol. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get the judges to save him. His journey on the show came to an end.

Looks back on his American Idol journey

Since his elimination from American Idol Season 20, Cameron looked back at his journey on the show. On Tuesday, April 19, he shared a carousel of photos from his iconic performances. Cameron feels good about how far he came for someone with no formal training. Despite his journey coming to an end, he still feels good about his future.

“I started it with a backflip and it ends with a backflip,” he wrote. “Thank you so much to all the support [throughout] my time on @AmericanIdol.”
