On TLC’s Welcome to Plathville, viewers have gotten an up-close look at the Plath family’s lives. Throughout the show’s first three seasons, there has been plenty of drama, conflicts, changes, and more to keep fans entertained. This has also highlighted some of the family’s hypocrisies.

Naturally, viewers have taken sides, either agreeing with parents Kim and Barry Plath or their kids who are breaking away. Welcome to Plathville fans think that Kim and Barry can be very hypocritical at times. On the show, the couple has talked about their own experiences as teenagers. They got to try new things and find themselves when they were growing up. They were able to make mistakes in order to learn and grow.

Kim and Barry went to school, consumed sugar, and watched TV. However, as we have seen on the show, they do not give their own children the same opportunities they had growing up. For example, Ethan Plath didn’t even have the opportunity to try drinking Coke until he was in his twenties, as shown on Welcome to Plathville. Their kids are homeschooled and going to college isn’t encouraged.

But they aren’t the only members of the family with hypocrisies.

What are some of the other Welcome to Plathville hypocrisies?

A few other members of the Plath family have been especially hypocritical over time. Fans have mixed feelings about some people in the family, such as Olivia Plath, who is Ethan’s wife. While some like that Ethan has gotten away from his parents’ strict rules, they feel that Olivia is equally as controlling and manipulative as Kim and Barry.

On the show, you might recall Olivia telling Moriah she would only play in the band if her parents don’t go to the concert. This may be seen as manipulative, which is a word fans have used to describe Kim and Barry in the past. You can see a clip from the episode below.

Welcome to Plathville fans have also witnessed a transformation from Lydia Plath. She was previously portrayed as a good girl who followed her parents’ rules and helped out around the house. On the show, there was a major contrast between Lydia and Moriah.

Now, it looks like Lydia might be starting to follow in Moriah’s footsteps. She’s begun dressing a little bit less modestly, got her own Instagram account, and more. These are things that the Plath family previously didn’t permit.

With a new season of Welcome to Plathville right around the corner, fans might find even more hypocrisies.
