Worst Cooks in America is a fun, light-hearted cooking competition show. Fans cheered on Ariel “Ari” Robinson during Season 20 and felt delighted when she took home the championship.

However, after the season aired, tragedy struck. Authorities arrested Ari Robinson and her husband Jerry Austin Robinson in connection to the death of their foster daughter.

Victoria Rose Smith died on January 14, 2021. The couple was apprehended a few days later on January 19 in Simpsonville, South Carolina.

Jerry Austin Robinson recently plead guilty to the crime. However, Ari Robinson still awaits her own trial date. Will she plead guilty to the child’s death?

Ari Robinson will go to trial at a later date

Local television station WYFF reports that arrest warrants indicate the Robinsons inflicted a “series of blunt force injuries” to their foster daughter Victoria. The little girl later died at the hospital as a result of internal bleeding.

In court last week, Jerry Austin Robinson pled guilty to “aiding and abetting homicide by child abuse.” WYFF reports that he is out on bond and under house arrest for the moment. However, he will face between 10-20 years in prison.

In his testimony, Robinson revealed that Ari Robinson beat Victoria to death because she grew frustrated with the little girl. Allegedly, he walked in on one of the beatings with a belt. He testified that he told Ari she went too far.

After the belt incident, Jerry Austin Robinson reportedly called the police. When they showed up and discovered the scene, Ari blamed Victoria’s death on the girl’s brother. She told the police that the boy had anger issues and that’s why Victoria suffered such severe injuries.

At this point in time, Ari Robinson has not yet gone to trial. Right now, her trial date is scheduled for May 9, 2022. We also cannot be sure how she will plea, but this is a case that has a lot of eyes on it. We’ll fill you in as soon as we know anything else.

The Food Network distances itself from the crime

Of course, the Food Network and Worst Cooks in America have nothing to do with Victoria’s tragic murder. But even so, they’re doing everything in their power to distance themselves from Ari Robinson. Discovery platforms pulled all of Season 20 from its streaming platforms.

During her time on the show, Ari Robinson seemed to be an upstanding person. She was excited to win the prize money to take home to her family and newly adopted children. But audience members never saw anything like this coming.

For now, we will just have to stay tuned and see how Robinson pleas during her trial. Keep following us online for the latest on this case and other true crime news. We will do our best to keep you informed.
