What did Jill have to say?

Jill Wagner Shared News On Mystery 101

On Thursday, Mystery 101 star Jill Wagner went to Instagram to share a video about the future of the Hallmark Signature Mystery. She, along with Kristoffer Polaha has starred in this popular series for several years.

She started out by smiling and saying, “Hello everybody. Just checking in.” Jill went on to share that she wanted to “address something” that has “a lot of chatter online.” She also shared that there have been “a lot of people DMing me.” What are they asking? They want to know why she left Mystery 101.

Jill explained that she wasn’t going to say anything, and declared that she “loved” the mystery series.

I loved the people that I worked for, and with. It has nothing to do with my desire to do another one, or anybody’s desire to do another one. It has to do with the big boy, Hallmark.

I think that they probably are going in another direction.

Next, she said, “I don’t know. I am not privy to that information.”

For my own peace of mind, I want to tell the fans of the show, I love the show. And, if I am ever given the opportunity to do another one, I certainly will.

She wanted to know that she has “not abandoned the ship.”

I wish I could give you more detailed information. I don’t have it.

Then, the Stargate Atlantis star revealed that she was aware of what fans were saying.

I know that there are a lot of message boards and talking about this. And there has been a lot of chatter because the last episode was not my favorite way to end the series.

What is Jill Wagner saying? It sounds like she would love to continue the series. Next, she is not given any information on the series. Moreover, it is ultimately up to Hallmark. However, it does look like Mystery 101 is done.

Most of all, she was not happy about the ending of the last movie as this would be how they would end the series.

Could Jill Wagner & Kristoffer Polaha Do Something Special?

Jill Wagner did share that if the series was indeed done, perhaps she and her co-star Kristoffer Polaha could do an Instagram Live and talk about how they would each like to have happen at the end of the series.

Then, Jill asked, “What would you guys want to do?” She then surmised that perhaps she and Kris “could film our own little ending.”

Jill Wagner Sent Hate Mail About Hallmark Series

As if the idea of the series not returning was not shocking enough, Jill’s next revelation was over-the-top. After asking fans what they would want, she revealed what some people have written to her.

I’ve gotten a lot of…I guess it’s kinda hate mail getting mad at me because they thought I left the show to film Lioness, or anything else that I was doing. That simply is not true.

Next, Jill seemed to leave a  very tiny window of hope when she said, “I don’t have a crystal ball. I don’t know what is in the future. I just want to let you guys know what I know. And, that is all that I know.”

However, her next message seemed to indicate that she never expects another episode.

I do love the show. I love you guys for loving the show. And if we don’t come back, I just absolutely, from the bottom of my heart, wanna say thank you so much for the support of the show because that allowed everyone who was involved the opportunity to have so much fun.

She also added that “Kris Polaha is like a brother to me. He’s like family to me know. We had a good run. And all I can say is ‘thank you.’ And hopefully, I can see you guys in something else. I know you will definitely will see me in Lioness,” She then laughed and tilted her head and said, “It’s a slightly different role.”

She then shared her love with the Mystery 101 fans and signed off.

How Did Mystery 101 Compare In Ratings?

One point that Sleuthers have been told over and over again is that ratings matter. So far, in 2022, there have only been three mysteries and no Mystery 101. However, how do their ratings compare?

According to SleepyKittyPaw, who posted on Twitter, two episodes of the series, Killer Timing, and Deadly History ended up in the top 10 movies for the year, with 1.49 million, and 1.43 million viewers, respectively. This top 10 list includes Christmas movies.

When comparing this series to this year’s heaviest hitter to date, Always Amore, Showbuzz Daily reported that the movie starring Tyler Hynes and Autumn Reeser had 1.073 million viewers.
In 2022, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, has introduced two new Signature Mystery series. According to Showbuzz Daily, the first, Cut, Color, Murder, the Ryan McPartlin, and Julie Gonzalo mystery had 1.28 million viewers. The second, the recent Curious Caterer: Dying For Chocolate, starring Nikki DeLoach and Andrew Walker had 1.165 million viewers.
Unfortunately, the 18-49 market share was very low for these movies. This low demographic ultimately hurts these movies and the network.
Sleuthers, what are your thoughts about this latest Mystery 101 news? Please share your comments.

    1. Agreed. This is such a bummer because the last movie left us on such a horrible cliffhanger. It would be nice if these networks would make these decisions ahead of time so that the series could be wrapped up instead of leaving us in limbo.

  1. Mystery 101 Is one of the shows I watch more than once just as I do with Sign Sealed and Deliver. I am a big fan of Hallmark. There are time you hit the mark big time, these are two that I will even stay home to watch! Some of the others I can’t even make it through once. I would hate to see Hallmark not make more episodes. In are crazy little world its nice to get lost in a good movie where you really enjoy the characters.

  2. I’m not sure I like the direction the Hallmark Mystery Channel has been taking recently. Seems like every mystery series I get hooked on and enjoy is cancelled. I enjoyed Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries and Mystery 101. I also enjoyed Aurora Teagarden but at least I understand why that series was cancelled…Candace Cameron Bure left Hallmark!

    1. If Hallmark continues to cancel mysteries that the public love, they are going to loss me and a lot of viewers.

  3. I also loved Mystery 101 and Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries. To leave any series hanging like that and not bring closure is unprofessional. Hallmark also needs to stop showing Christmas movies non-stop for weeks on end at different times during the year. It’s ridiculous. No one wants to watch Christmas movies in July! I’m disappointed in Hallmark. They can do so much better!

    1. I agree soo much with your comment…I tuned out last fall when Christmas movies started and haven’t seen anything worth watching since !
      so disappointing….we were watching regularly….😢

      1. I agree that Christmas in July is just too much. I switched to other services for the summer, not sure if I will return.

  4. Mystery 101 is the he best show on Hallmark. I really hope they continue making more movies. Kristoffer Polaha and Jill Wagner are like a dream team couple. It would be a shame to lose them. The acting is phenomenal and the two are fan favorites. Why break them apart at the height of their success?

  5. Mystery 101 is the best show out there! Jill and Christopher make the best couple. The stories are great…please bring it back!!!

  6. If this is how Hallmark is going to end this series, they are the most unprofessional film company in business. Though I believe this to be the best series they ever made, I know that is my personal opinion and do not profess to a right to make the decision about keeping it alive. However, to end it in the way they did….a cliffhanger…..and offer no explanation, apology or intention is insulting to their viewers and leaves me wondering why I buy the Hallmark channel. Please have the respect for your viewers to address this issue. We have already waited over a year for your plans to be clear.

  7. I agree with those who think Hallmark is making a mistake, but they don’t seem to care what we think. I am especially aggravated by the “hint” that Amy gets engaged to someone else. That doesn’t even make any sense, given the episodes showing their growing romance. I will also miss her “dad”—a perfect part of the show.

  8. What the neck is going on with Ha!!mark???????? My family watches 101 also and enjoyed the Tea garden mysteries. Now both are gone? It might be time to get rid of this station because it “sucks” that they have no respect for their viewers. Disney went from bad to worse and now Hallmark is following them.

  9. I am extremely disappointed to learn that 101 is over. This was my absolute favorite Hallmark series and the Jill Wagner/Kristoffer Polaha team was pure magic. I looked forward to watching their romance grow and now that will never be.

I also agree with the writer who remarked about the constant Christmas reruns. They’re getting old and tired. Hallmark needs to inject fresh content into the programming lineup.

  10. I agrees that Hallmark is so disappointing! They are heading in the wrong direction and losing their best talent! My friends and I will not be watching this year; we have been loyal viewers from the beginning…such a shame!

  11. I miss Mystery 101 so much. Its an excellent show. Please. Please bring it back. I believe the people that have the power to bring the show back are making a big mistake in not doing so.

  12. I am so disappointed in the direction Hallmark is taking. Take a clue from Disney. 101 and Martha’s Vineyard were the best mysteries. I will be watching GAC Family now

  13. I love Mystery 101. Hallmark is missing the mark here. the market of 40-50 are hooked with the show, and guess what Hallmark? We have the money to spend on the products you advertise during that show… at least I have. This is one of the few shows I truly like to watch.

  14. I can’t believe that Hallmark is cancelling Mystery 101. This is my favorite series. Also love the actors that star in it. I pay extra to get the Hallmark Channel but now I might as well cancel the channel. Why would you cancel the best show on??? Surely will miss watching Hallmark but now it won’t cost me so much. Seems like Hallmark is pretty dumb…

  15. I agree completely, Mystery 101 is/was a fan favorite. Why Hallmark should feel the urge to cancel it is unbelievable. Hallmark does not really care about their fans I guess. The ending of episode 7 where did that come from.? Time to save some money I guess.

  16. I am totally disappointed in Hallmark as of lately. I understand that they can’t help Candace choosing to leave and I will miss her series but the Mystery 101 was a fantastic show and now they are not doing it anymore either?? They need to start listening to their dedicated fans or they will lose all of their diehard viewers. Also, I like Christmas shows just as well as the rest do but mainly all Christmas shows is stupid!

  17. The writing & acting in the Mystery 101 series was excellent!! (until ending of last show – what was that???) It’s remains my favorite series – glad I have saved them all to rewatch because the movies on Hallmark & Hallmark Movies & Mysteries starting last yr have been such a disappointment. I cannot even make it half-way thru most of them (even if I enjoy the cast the writing &/or chemistry are terrible).

I used to watch live or tape every new movie on both channels – NOT ANY MORE. Guess their “target audience” has changed – thankful to not be part of it. Hallmark is making a big mistake by cancelling Mystery 101.

    1. Really Hallmark you just leave us hanging I love mystery 101. I agree about the Christmas crap November is a good time for Christmas stories

  18. Mystery 101 is my favorite Hallmark mystery series. The chemistry between Jill, Christopher, and Robin is the absolute best. They were all so comfortable working together, and this made the story lines believable. They played regular people without any trace of pretense. Hallmark is making a big mistake by canceling this.

  19. I love love Mystery 101. It was better than Teagarden. The mysteries on Hallmark are more for the older age group. Young people don’t watch this channel. They prefer horror and a lot of sex. Forget them! Watchers over 35 years is who you need to appease. So far the new mysteries aren’t as good as the old ones. I’m ready for some mysteries. Tired of love stories. Only so much more “love” I can take. Need something to work the “brain”.

  20. I too agree I am very sorry to see Mystery 101 and Martha’s Vineyard not returning. I have looked forward, especially to see what would happen next in Mystery 101 since it ended in a cliffhanger. Hallmark is definitely missing the “mark” by not continuing these 2. And I also agree, stop with the Christmas overload. It should be at Christmas and not year round. Please bring back programming that people want to watch.

  21. I will miss Mystery 101, it is my favourite Mystery show that Hallmark does. Maybe Netflix will pick up Jill Wagner and Kristoffer Polala and write something for them, they have such good chemistry when acting together.

  22. Mystery 101 was probably the best mystery series Hallmark has ever made. Aurora Teagarden is also high on that list. Their two new mysteries are disappointing and boring. Since Hallmark has decided to turn its backs on their clientele I decided to turn my back on them. I dropped Hsllmark like a rock and picked up GAC. Maybe I will write them and see if they want to pick up on the series. I am sure they will do a good job with it. Don’t miss their Christmas movies at all they really fell down last year and their Christmas shows were bad! Only good ones they had on were their old movies. Can’t wait for the GAC Christmas movies to start, same day as Hallmark’s!

  23. This was my favorite hallmark mystery. I can’t believe it’s not coming back. I’m so sick of Christmas movies. The last two new mysteries were just such bad acting and writing. All my favorites are gone.

  24. I guess we will be canceling our Hallmark subscription also, as they are canceling the best shows on the network. The crosswords mysteries ans 101 are both excellent.
