Ashley Iaconetti Talks Vetoed Baby Name & Jared Haibon As A Dad
Bachelor in Paradise fan-favorite couple Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon welcomed their first child together earlier this year. Now, she is dishing on everything from sleep to Jared as a dad to a vetoed baby name. Keep reading to find out what Ashley had to say about their new journey as parents.
Ashley Iaconetti shares vetoed baby name
Bachelor Nation shared what Ashley had to say about being a new mom when she spoke on the Talking it Out With Bachelor Nation podcast. She also shared the girl name she really wanted to have but Jared immediately vetoed it and wouldn’t give in.
Everyone knows their son Dawson’s name came from Ashley’s love of Titanic and the character Jack Dawson. Of course, Jack was played by Leonardo DiCaprio whom Ashley also loves.
So, Ashley’s choice of a baby girl’s name also came from something she loves. Ashley said the name came to her while attending a New Kids on the Block concert in her early 20s. She said, “Jared was not down with my pick for a girl name, which was Arena. The name Arena came from me being at a New Kids on the Block concert in my early 20s. I was like, ‘This is the life. I love being in an arena. This is my happy place!’”
Ashley continued saying, “I had a list of hundreds of concerts that I’ve been to. I’ve been to over 200 concerts. I just love arena concerts and I love pop music and the energy around it. So I loved the name Arena because arenas are my happy place.”
Mike Johnson agreed with Jared on vetoing the name.
Jared as a dad
Ashley also dished on motherhood and watching Jared be a dad to Dawson. She shared she always knew he would be a good dad but watching him in action is wonderful. Ashley said, “It’s so dreamy seeing Jared as a father. He’s just as good at it as I thought he was going to be. He’s so good with babies.”
Ashley noted that the first two weeks after giving birth were difficult for her. Jared did almost everything including changing the majority of the diapers. She loves how hands-on he is with Dawson.
As for her and motherhood, Ashley says she just figured out and loves it. She said, “It comes naturally. You just know what to do. I was so freaked out. I was worried I wouldn’t even like the kid because I had such a horrible pregnancy. But you just figure it out, and it’s really simple right now. All he does is eat, sleep, poop, and cry for no reason. We’ve pretty much figured out how to calm him down, though.”
Since she and Jared met on BIP fans often ask if she would let Dawson go on The Bachelor. The two have said in the past they would support him in whatever he wanted to do. He already has an outfit that says “Future Bachelor.”
