Fans warming up to Conrad moving on with Billie?

Season 5 of The Resident kicked off with the shocking death of a main character. Nurse Nic Nevin (Emily VanCamp) passed away after a car crash left her brain dead. Not only was VanCamp a regular since Season 1, but her character’s relationship with Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry) was also a front-burner storyline.

In fact, Conrad and Nic just got married during Season 4. So, fans were shocked by the untimely exit of the beloved character.

The Resident then went through a three-year time jump.

In recent episodes Nic’s longtime friend Billie (Jessica Lucas) has seemingly developed feelings for the widower. However, viewers initially weren’t on board with the possible new romance.

Based on the online discussion following the latest episode, the tide seems to be turning. Some fans are now ‘shipping a Conrad and Billie romance.

The Resident abruptly loses another cast member

In addition to a possible romance with Conrad, Billie was front-and-center at one of Season 5’s biggest storylines. She previously revealed that she had a baby as a teenager after being sexually assaulted.

So, of course, her adult son had to show up at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital as the newest intern. He already knew Billie was his mother, but didn’t know the circumstances of his conception.

However, it all came out when her rapist was up for a job on the medical board. Billie disclosed the abuse, which ultimately clued Trevor Daniels (Miles Fowler) into the fact he was a product of rape.

During the episode airing on March 29, he told his mother that he was leaving the residency program for a job at a tech start-up.

It turns out that was the last airdate for Miles Fowler. He made his abrupt exit from the popular Fox show.

The actor’s rep declined to give a reason for the surprising exit, telling TVLine that Fowler only signed a one-year contract with the show.

Will there be a Season 6?

The outlet notes that The Resident is among the Fox shows awaiting news of a renewal. However, fans should expect happy news about another season.

Spoiler TV claims that production reports show The Resident filming Season 6 later this summer.
