Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is one of the most successful new anime series out of Japan right now. The first season began airing in 2019, with the English dub reaching North America the following year. That first season garners tons of praise from fans and critics alike for its stunning fight sequences and gritty storyline. The show revolves around a boy who vows to become a demon slayer after demons slaughter his family and turn his sister into one of them.

The second season wrapped up recently in Japan, and the English dub has begun airing here in the west.  With only the first several episodes out, Bang Zoom Entertainment, the company that handles the show’s English dubbing, has made a big announcement.

Gyutaro Is Coming

Bang Zoom Entertainment has chosen the English voice actor for the upcoming antagonist Gyutaro. Gyutaro is a notorious villain and a major piece of the fan-favorite arc: Entertainment District. It’s a storyline that gets a lot of love in both its manga form and its anime adaptation. Fans who choose to watch Demon Slayer with subtitles rather than dubbing have already laid acclaim on the upcoming episodes.

The English actor for Gyutaro will be Brandon McInnis. A veteran anime dub voice actor with credits like Nighteye from My Hero Academia and Finral from Black Clover under his belt. Fans of the video game Smite might also take interest in knowing he is the voice of the Chinese mythical deity known as Erlang Shen from that game. So a lot of his voice roles are for nobler protagonists. It will be interesting to see how he handles a demonic and troubling figure like Gyutaro.

The English dub of Demon Slayer has no shortage of successful dub voice actors. The main characters contain voice actors like Bryce Papenbrook (Attack On Titan, Sword Art Online), Zach Aguilar (Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure), and Abby Trott (Carmen SandiegoNier: Automata). It’s going to be interesting to see how this vocal talent plays off of each other here.

Demon Slayer: An International Hit

Demon Slayer is a very new show, but it has built a large fanbase that raves constantly about the show in a short amount of time. Similar to Jujutsu Kaisen, it is lapping older manga and anime in terms of sales in success in the brief amount of time it has been here. Let’s hope that success continues. A Season 3 is coming without a doubt. It will likely begin airing in Japan sometime in 2023 or 2024. With the English dub coming nine to twelve months later.

Adult Swim’s Toonami is airing the English dub of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba.
