Will Smith Smacks Chris Rock On Stage At Oscars, What Happened?
Things took an unexpected turn at the Oscars this evening. In a shocking moment to audience members, Will Smith got out of his seat to walk on stage and smack Chris Rock. What happened to make Smith lose his temper?
What happened between Will Smith and Chris Rock?
Vanity Fair shared what went down on stage that has the world talking. Chris Rock was on stage to present an award for best documentary. Rock began his time on stage by making a few jokes. One of the jokes was obviously not a good choice. He made a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. He referred to her as G.I. Jane. Smith did not like this.
After his joke, Smith walked up on stage from his front-row seat and proceeded to slap Rock. Chris said, “oh wow Will Smith just smacked the sh*t out of me.” Smith then walked back to his seat smiling where he yelled at Rock. Smith said, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth.”
Rock then said, “Wow Dude it was a G.I. Jane joke.” Smith repeated himself saying, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth.”
Rock continued to smile as he said okay I’m going to.
The telecast was stopped as soon as possible.
Joke gone wrong, very insensitive
Last year, Pinkett-Smith announced she was shaving her head due to having alopecia. Alopecia areata is a disease that happens when the immune system attacks hair follicles and causes hair loss.
So, many are commenting that Rock’s joke was very insensitive to Pinkett-Smith’s condition.
Diddy was the next presenter onstage, where he appeared to introduce the 50th-anniversary celebration to The Godfather. Diddy addressed the awkward altercation by saying, “Will and Chris, we’re going to solve that like family. Right now we’re moving on with love. Everybody make some noise.”

Was it real?
There are also some skeptics online who believe this fight was staged. Some believe there is no way he would go on stage and punch someone.
Others believe he was simply defending his wife and had good reason to.
So far neither Will Smith nor Chris Rock has commented on the situation.
After smacking Chris Rock, Will went on to win best actor in a leading role where he made an emotional speech.
