‘My 600-Lb. Life’ Season 6, Episode 6 Yanked By TLC: Why?
Sometimes TLC fans just love to binge their favorite shows. My 600-Lb. Life has been a fan-favorite TLC series for a number of years. But fans recently noticed that one episode is no longer available for streaming on the Discovery+ app.
What exactly happened and where did it go?
Discovery+ quietly removes an episode of My 600-Lb. Life
Once again, Reddit sleuths seem to be on the case. After one fan noticed a My 600-Lb. Life episode was missing, they asked other Reddit users for help. They quickly came up with some answers.
The missing episode is episode six from season six. One user wrote back, “IIRC, that was James “LB” Bonner’s story. His episode was removed by TLC due to a lawsuit from the family. I don’t know all the details, but I believe that’s what happened.”
Many other users agreed that the lawsuit probably had something to do with the missing episode. If you keep up with My 600-Lb. Life news, then you might recall that LB unfortunately struggled with depression.
He struggled with alcoholism and food addiction to deal with his mental health issues. He also lost his foot in an ATV accident, which didn’t help matters. Ultimately, he took his own life in 2018 after filming.
Other Reddit users seemed to believe that LB’s untimely death fueled the lawsuit. They alleged that the My 600-Lb. Life production staff didn’t give him adequate access to mental health resources. The entire filming process contributed to his depression and he just didn’t get the help he required.
We may not have any concrete answers, but this definitely makes sense. If you have any additional theories, be sure to share them with us in the comments.
The popular TLC show faces multiple lawsuits
This definitely isn’t the first lawsuit aimed at My 600-Lb. Life. Since it aired, many former participants came forward and said they endured incredibly unfair treatment during their time on the show.
Gina Marie Krasley passed away last summer. But prior to her death, she too had a lawsuit pending against the show. According to Gina’s lawsuit, the filming crew forced her to consume absurd amounts of food in order to fit in with the show’s narrative. She also alleges she didn’t receive enough mental health support to help her on her health journey.
At the end of the day, emotional distress seems to be a common factor among many My 600-Lb. Life participants. TLC may quietly remove more episodes as time goes on.
