How Kody, Meri & Christine Brown Worked The System?
Christine Brown has openly admitted Truely’s kidney problems as a toddler left her in an exorbitant amount of debt. Getting insurance, in a plural family, is not the easiest thing and it is seemingly left up to the mother. For Ysabel’s scoliosis surgery, Christine commented she was waiting for the insurance to kick in. Sister Wives fans were taken aback that the kids might not have coverage or that they would have to worry. The wives may be much more stable now, enough to leave Kody if they want, it was not always that way. There was a point in time when they heavily relied on each other. In fact, the family was in such bad shape financially, they were doing and saying whatever they could to get by.
Christine Brown Runs The Household, Kody And Meri Go Broke?
One of the best things Christine brought to the family was her homemaker side. She kept the home and tended to the children. As for the other two original wives, Meri had a part-time job while Janelle was admittedly a workhorse. Kody was always into something though no one was really ever certain what it was. He was all about making babies and moving. They had a well-oiled machine and never had to worry about subjecting their children to any scrutiny. The Brown babies either went to polygamist schools or were homeschooled. Then, in 2005, Kody and Meri realized their lifestyle was too much to handle. So, they filed for bankruptcy.
Janelle had just given birth to Savanah a few months prior. In the documents, obtained by RadarOnline, the couple owed creditors $229,873.49 with around half of that in mortgages. There was approximately 40K in credit card debt and 7K in car loans. They also amassed close to 3K at Sears and 8K at The Home Depot. Allegedly, Kody and Meri had ten dollars in cash and five dollars in their joint account. As for work, Kody was working as a salesman for a Montana sign shop making 4K/month. Meri was making $625/month working for engravers. Yet the mortgage was on a Wyoming home.
Ultimately, over two years later, they were ordered to pay $187,885.74 in fees and such. To add to all of this, Kody and Meri allegedly claimed Janelle’s six children in their bankruptcy. This made it appear as though they had six children, not just one. It was not fair to Janelle who was always consistently financially contributing to the family. Sadly, their troubles were not over and this time, it was going to involve the other two wives.

Speaking of Janelle, she filed for bankruptcy in 1997, just four years after joining the family. Not much is known about her status however Christine Brown was also not exempt from the Brown Bankruptcy Curse. She actually filed in 2010, the same year Sister Wives premiered, according to The Hollywood Gossip. Though she had a “companion” listed who contributed $1200/month, she filed as single. In the end, she was forgiven of roughly 25K in debt. No one knew she was actually married in a sense and her TLC income may have been listed under Kody’s name.
Due to always appearing “single,” Janelle and Christine were afforded more than they may have deserved. As for Meri, she and Kody seemed to owe less to the government. Did claiming an extra six children help? Maybe. Though it appeared they had everything made when the series premiered, it was not the case behind closed doors. Meri had just been laid off from her job leaving Janelle and Kody as the sole providers.
They were about to invite a fourth wife into the home who was said to have her own debt. Furthermore, all the wives were or had been on food stamps and government assistance. Now, Meri is treating Christine horribly since she left the family, publicly mocking her cooking show. There was virtually no relationship between Janelle and Meri by the time the pandemic hit. After all they had been through and survived, it’s a shame to see it collapse like this.

When and where did Meri trash Christine’s cooking show?
She made a subliminal comment on her IG live last week. It stated something about how she (Meri) has been doing live cooking shows for Lizzy’s Heritage Inn for over a year now and how “Just Jenn” had that name for along time, insinuating that, Christine recently using the name “Just Christine” is nothing creative because Jenn’s been doing it. Just a bunch of pettiness if you ask me.

Then here comes Sobyn Robyn, the biggest thief of them all and she absolutely contributes nothing to the family but heart ache and pain disguised as love and concern. I can’t wait for her to get in return what she dishes out and I hope it’s by a much younger female. Nope in fact, I hope it’s by a male, I hope Cody gets a Husband. Lol

Sadly the Brown kids are the ones that will be hurt from all the bull. Kody is more of a feminist than the woman are. Kody never showed himself as a good dad or provider. It’s nice to see the older kids living as hard workers and better parents than what they had as parents. I certainly hope this show gets cancelled now. Taxpayers paid for raising those kids and the Brown’s scammed the bankers from the looks of things. It is all public information. Also remember there was issues with getting mortgages on the homes. Maybe due to the lies and scams. Coyote Pass should be taken away from them.
I am disappointed that TLC promotes shows like this. This is not the first show TLC has promoted that is used the system and kids.

Is it because you of the stereotype from polygamist cults like Kingston Clan or Warren Jeffs who spiritual spouses definitely was on food stamp, cash assistance, and Medicaid. Completely agree. This article suggests their former financial history is how they are living today. These people are human. It’s time to stop digging up past dirt on the Browns. Fans want to keep up on current information.
I was aware that the Government paid for Kody’s family. He’s too much of a narcissist to plan and pay for all his children on his own! I don’t appreciate my taxes paying for his idiotic lifestyle. You can’t afford them… do t have them!
how do you know they weren’t? obviously something was up somewhere because single women who barely work do not get mortgages. People who file for bankruptcy (and this is public knowledge) usually have a really low credit rating. Even if they did get a mortgage, the rates would be higher since they were considered “high risk’/ Sadly, whether this particular story is true or not, the is the reason why the system fails. There is no investigating into a lot of people who claim multiple children and poor financial situations. This makes it even tougher for those is real need, like our veteran, to get what they truly deserve as far as money. One look at their lifestyle will tell anyone that they are living above their needs.

I’m not taking sides nor stating that exploiting them is right but, Christine already said they was on Food Stamps which was the big reason the State of Utah threatened them with Pologamy prosecution. The laws of Pologamy was made for two main reasons, which are: because of how they exploit young kids and women and because of the fraud committed to get assistance from the government to feed all the families involved. She already said at the time the show first started that she got over $2,000 in food stamps a month. But this shouldn’t be a problem when so many kids benefited with proper stable food in the home. I’m a republican and still don’t see an issue with what this family did to feed their babies.
It is very easy to find out if someone has been on assistance. You tell me who in the world the Brown’s supported all those kids without assistance. Kody is beyond being a tool. From day one it has been so obvious that he and his so called spiritual wives have been miserable. His ridiculous claims that “love should be multiplied and not divided” made no sense. He has divided his time between 4 so called wives and 18 kids. Yet it is also obvious he has a favorite, Sobyn Robyn. I truly wish the show would be dumped once and for all and let Kody figure out he needs a real job to support his remaining minor children. Assistance is there for a hand up, not a hand out.

I 2nd firing them all. We began with watching a polygamist lifestyle – and wound up watching a very sad trainwreck. It is no longer interesting – or worth them getting paid to make us uncomfortable. They are anything but a “family” in any sense of the word.
So how .much did Hollywood pay them for performance
Cody Brown is an arrogant controlling angry man. It has been obvious for several years. His so called marriages are nothing but immorality in the Biblical sense. I sympathize for children in such an environment.of confusion
Why does everyone hate Robin so much? What have I missed bc she seems like she wants to appease everyone but I’m not a longtime fan so I’m wondering what I’ve missed
It’s just popular to hate her because she’s younger, more attractive(at least when they got married) and people think she manipulates Kody to favor her and ignore the other wives and kids. They blame her for ruining the family. I’ve watched and re-watched from the beginning and don’t see it at all. Kody is only in love with Robyn and she treats him like a king (which is her right). She doesn’t need to manipulate to be the favorite.
