Fans have been raving about the Fox reboot Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer. Last week Steven McBee and Kurt Sowers had to make their final choice and reveal who is rich and who is not on the season finale. Kurt chose Amanda while Steven decided Calah Jackson is the best fit for his life. Tvshowsace caught up with Steven to get some inside info about life with Calah, the show and even Bubbles the raccoon. Keep reading to find out everything he had to say!

Joe Millionaire Steven McBee gets candid about figuring out Calah was the one and more

Tvshowsace:  How did they choose you or find you to be on Joe Millionaire? What about Calah? I believe everything happens for a reason so it’s interesting to see how you both ended up on the show which ultimately led you to each other.

SM: “They found me on Instagram! Same with Calah. Cornwell Casting company was hired by FOX to search the internet for people that would fit the show description. They of course were looking for a millionaire that could pull off being a blue collar boy, and I fit that pretty well as my day to day life is honestly blue collar as can be.”

Aces: Was it difficult at all to keep from slipping about having money such as not talking about the helicopter, all the different businesses you run? Did you ever feel like you were about to slip up?

SM: “Actually (and this is very anti-climatic) not at all. My day to day life is SO blue collar, more so than Kurt’s honestly. So it wasn’t too tough to keep it a secret! I just kept the helicopter and some of the vehicles out of normal conversations!”

Aces: Since you’ve said you knew it was going to be Calah at hometowns, was it hard continuing to date Annie knowing you weren’t going to choose her?

SM: “I didn’t necessarily know for sure it was going to be Calah during hometown. I sincerely and genuinely had such a strong connection with Annie (and still think she is an incredible person), I just was starting to see the writing on the wall that Annie most likely wouldn’t have fit in as well on a farm, and I had doubts about her wanting to leave New York. Calah was such a good fit with my family and in my hometown, that day really just turned the page for me as far as where things were. Up to that point, it was 1. Annie and 2. Calah, and after that day, it was reversed. It wasn’t completely over then though, I still wanted to see how Calah and I meshed in a 1 on 1 setting without the other girls around to see if we really did have a good connection!”

Life on the farm and the future

Aces:  How is Calah adjusting to living in such a small town? It’s a huge difference between Chicago and Dallas to a really small town in Missouri.

SM: “Thankfully, we’re buying a house in Kansas City (Lees Summit to be exact) so we will be moving in by the first week of April! Living in Gallatin, MO is a bit of a shell shock for her, but she has adjusted really well. So far, she’s enjoyed the change of pace and being able to walk her dog down my driveway and not have neighbors around etc … Right now she is just focused on getting her real estate license! She wants to hit the ground running with that by the time we get into the new house, so she has been full time studying for that!”

Aces: You both like to move slow which is great, but have you talked about the future? Are you both open to marriage down the road? Kiddos?

SM: “Absolutely! My end goal in life is to have a family, so I definitely want to get there one day! I know timeline wise, we both like to take things slowly and not rush anything. We both come from divorced families and do want to repeat that with our own lives, so we want to be sure about our decisions!”

Steven shares Bubbles story and what he does for fun

Aces: How in the world did you end up with a pet raccoon? Bubbles is adorable but he really lives in the house like any other house pet? How long have you had him?

SM: “Lol! Bubbles was a rescue that we found after a tree fell over with bubbles inside! We were looking around the downed tree in the backyard and there was a rotted out hole in it with Bubbles sleeping inside. We waited a day or so and noticed the Mom wasn’t coming back around, so we took Bubbles in and bottle fed her (we have a wildlife breeders permit which allows us to do this). Bubbles actually just graduated from a rehab facility that reintroduces wild animals that were kept in captivity back into the wild, so Bubbles is now roaming the North Missouri country side!”

Aces: Since you do live in a small town, what do you do for fun? Hunt, fish? How far are you from civilization so to speak lol.

SM: “I am about an hour and 10 minutes from Kansas City, which has all of the bars/restaurants, so it’s a haul to go down there! I do spend 2 days a week working in the city with my carwashes I am building, so I’m not stuck in my small town 100% of the time. You’re exactly right, I’m a huge outdoorsman and love to hunt/fish, which is what I do outside of work when I am in Gallatin!”

Aces: Overall it sounds like you won twice. You found Calah and a lifelong friend in Kurt. Has Kurt been out to Missouri yet?

SM: “I really did! Kurt has made a couple trips out to the farm and loves it! Lol. He fits right in with us up here!”

A true country boy and hard worker, Steven is as genuine and humble as they come. Fans can continue to follow Steven and Calah’s journey and life on the farm via Instagram.

Tvshowsace loved catching up with Steven and wishes nothing but the best for him and Calah as they continue their future together.
