Was TLC complacent when it came to Josh Duggar’s sexual assault behavior? The former 19 Kids & Counting and Counting On star has had a history of inappropriate behaviors. Despite this, TLC gave the Duggar family a platform for years. Now, the network is being called out for this. People think that the network needs to be held accountable for its actions.
The Duggar family was on TV for several years. Their first show 19 Kids & Counting, ran for 10 seasons beginning in 2008. It was then canceled in 2015 after Josh’s molestation scandal came to light.
Later in 2008, a spin-off, Counting On, made its debut on TLC. This show was meant to be a continuation of the family’s lives following Josh’s scandal. Though Josh was not necessarily a part of this show, the rest of the family was. The network continued giving the family a platform despite everything that came out about Josh.
After Josh was arrested in the spring of 2021, Counting On came to an end as well. So far, the network hasn’t attempted to reboot the Duggar family with another show. So, they might have given up on giving them a platform. Still, people are calling the network out for being complacent when it comes to the Duggar family and their scandals.
Samantha Bee calls out TLC for giving the Duggars a platform despite Josh’s past.
In a clip from Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, the host talks about the Duggar family. She also posted a still from the episode along with a caption that reads, “TLC didn’t officially part ways with the Duggars until last year – 7 years after we first learned about Josh Duggar’s abusive history. Duggar now faces up to 40 years in prison. Or hopefully, 40 years and counting.”
You can watch a clip from Samantha Bee here. In the comments section of the video, Samantha’s viewers are calling for TLC to be held accountable. One user points out that “the damage done to the children involved is huge.”
Another says, “Whoever runs TLC has a sick mind!”
Someone else says, “TLC always needed to stick to facelifts and open heart surgeries.”
So, do you think that TLC has been complacent when it comes to Josh Duggar’s behavior? Do you think that they should be held responsible after giving the Duggars a platform? Share your thoughts in the comments section below. For more news about the Duggar family, come back to TV Shows Ace.
