Friday Night Smackdown put the Road to Wrestlemania in overdrive. Ricochet defended his newly won Intercontinental Title against Sami Zayn. Brock Lesnar attempted to get revenge against Roman Reigns and company. In an unfortunate accident, Big E. suffered a serious injury during a tag team match. Big E suffers broken neck
It started as a tag team match between Sheamus and Ridge Holland taking on The New Day. The match moved along as expected until Holland hit Big E with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex on the floor. Big E landed directly on his head and was seemingly knocked out cold. The match continued on the inside, with Pete Dunne appearing to aide both Sheamus and Holland in a beat down on Kofi Kingston. During the commercial break, Big E was taken to the back on a stretcher and taken to the hospital. Later in the evening, Big E released a video on social media confirming he has a broken neck.
Brock’s foot chase
Brock Lesnar chases Paul Heyman
Last weekend in New York City, Brock Lesnar defeated Austin Theory in the main event. After Lesnar defended his title, Roman Reigns and The Usos came to the ring and beat down the beast at Madison Square Garden. To kick off Friday Night Smackdown, Lesnar came to the ring and called out Reigns. Instead of Reigns, Lesnar got Paul Heyman who attempted to cool down the WWE Champion. In return, Lesnar chased Heyman through the locker where he made it to a getaway car that left the arena.
Charlotte and Ronda backlot brawl
Earlier in the night, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey met face to face in the ring. Both women engaged in a war of words, with Flair promising to make Rousey tap out before the end of the night. In the closing moments of WWE Smackdown, Charlotte Flair attacked the former UFC champion. Charlotte beat Rousey down, suplexing her onto the hood of a car. The Queen then applied a submission as the show came to a close.
