Isabel Roloff Puts Mateo’s Doctor On Blast For Misdiagnosis
Isabel Roloff is putting her son Mateo’s doctor on blast after a difficult misdiagnosis. The wife of former Little People, Big World star Jacob Roloff shared the story with fans this weekend after revealing her son’s actual diagnosis.
Though Isabel and Jacob are giving their son a private life in some ways, the new mom decided to share about his medical concerns. They don’t share photos of his face, but they share some details about him here and there.
Mateo did receive a diagnosis and received the care he needed. But Isabel Roloff is revealing that it wasn’t as easy as it should have been.

As we reported, this weekend, Isabel Roloff opened up about Mateo’s diagnosis. Isabel explained: “We had a bit of a rough start in the beginning of our breastfeeding journey due to Mateo having a severe tongue tie, which made it hard for him to gain weight in the beginning.”
It was getting frustrating for both of us. I think I was prepared for a lot of aspects around birth, motherhood, newborns, but I was probably the least informed on breastfeeding. It seems as though it should just come naturally and be a piece of cake, when really, both mom and baby are learning a new skill and that’s no easy feat. It takes time to figure it all out.”
Fortunately, Isabel and Jacob were able to get his tongue tie reversed when he was two months old.
Isabel Roloff puts his pediatrician on blast.
On her Instagram stories this weekend, Isabel wrote:
“A few months ago, I had a pediatrician try to gaslight me and say Mateo didn’t have a tongue tie. If I had listened to him and given up, we wouldn’t be where we are now. Giving up or shutting down has been my default setting in the past and I’m just proud and grateful to be where we are today. Talking about our strengths and having pride in things we do doesn’t automatically equate to shaming others journeys.”
It sounds like Isabel is attempting to encourage other parents to continue fighting instead of backing down in these kinds of situations. It sounds like the new mom was able to figure out what was actually going on with her son and get him the medical care he needed. Hopefully, she will be able to continue fighting if these things happen in the future.
