‘Law & Order’ Uses Gabby Petito Nightmare As Inspiration For Episode
Last year, the world waited in anticipation for answers on Gabby Petito’s disappearance. Eventually, authorities discovered someone murdered her. Now, the hit crime show Law & Order attempts to tackle a similar situation.
The latest episode was inspired by the Gabby Petito disappearance and murder.
Law & Order doesn’t shy away from tough subjects
Crime isn’t pretty. And that’s exactly why Law & Order isn’t afraid to tackle sensitive subject matter like this. In the past, the show also covered topics like George Floyd and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year, 22-year-old Gabby Petito went on a cross-country road trip with her fiance, Brian Laundrie. Laundrie came home, but Gabby never did.
On Law & Order, we see a similar situation unfold involving the fictional character, Amanda Larson.
As reported by Meaww, “Amanda came to NYC and was living in her van. After one week, the NYPD detectives Bernard (Anthony Anderson) and Cosgrove (Jeffrey Donovan) found the van and started investigating the crime scene. The window of the van was busted and a bloody hammer was found near the vehicle. When they searched for the girl on the internet, they found that Amanda was quite famous on social media and made a vlog for every moment of her life.”
Right off the bat, the similarities between Gabby Petito and Amanda Larson are clear. Amanda’s character also had a boyfriend named Daniel, who began acting suspiciously — just as Brian Laundrie did.
