Below Deck star Daisy Kelliher revealed that she “struggled” with her stews. Ever since Season 3 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht premiered a few weeks ago, Gabriela Barragan and Ashley Marti have butted heads. Gabriela knows more about her job compared to Ashley, who is green. Yet, she feels that she should get promoted to second stew.

Ashley doesn’t like receiving guidance from Gabriela. She thinks she knows her job and she knows it well. However, Gabriela can see that Ashley is struggling. Daisy noticed the power struggle between them. She admitted that she’s never had an issue with this in her yachting career.

Gabriela and Ashley can see past their titles

Daisy Kelliher made an appearance on the So Dramatic podcast. She shared that the Below Deck Sailing Yacht newbies were “obsessed with their title.” Ashley didn’t see herself as a third stew. They often argued about rank. It became so bad that it was all they thought about.

Daisy admitted that she “struggled” with her job because of it. While she’s dealt with difficult stews in the past, she’s never had this problem in her life. Most issues were a piece of cake compared to this one. Daisy couldn’t help them see past their roles.

“It impacts the season quite a lot and impacted my season a lot,” Daisy explained. “I really struggled managing them. It was a very weird situation. I’ve never been in that situation. They seemed incredibly obsessed, both of them with their positions. They were both incredible stews.”

She liked working with each of them for different reasons. However, they made things difficult for her job. Daisy wishes they would’ve seen “the bigger picture and concentrate on their jobs” rather than rank. This is an issue she never had to deal with as a chief stew. She would’ve preferred if they focused on their jobs instead.

Wishes the Below Deck stews focused on the job

This caused the work to slip in the interior department. In that same interview, Daisy also opened up about Erica Rose’s charter group. Below Deck fans dubbed them the worst charter guests in the show’s history. Erica returns to Season 3 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht with her husband Charles Sanders.

Daisy was in the crew mess with Ashley planning a party for the high-maintenance guests. Meanwhile, Gabriel cleaned the cabins and was frustrated when Ashley didn’t follow through on her tasks. Gabriel confronted Ashley in the crew mess, which caused more drama. Daisy wanted them to do their jobs rather than worry about rank.

“Especially because I was chief stew and they really didn’t seem concerned about that,” the Below Deck fan favorite said. “[They were] being way more concerned about themselves but it was a challenge.”

Despite their issues, Daisy enjoyed working with both of them. It’s just that this season was the opposite of last season. While Daisy got along with Chef Marcos Spaziani, her interior team struggled to get along. What are your thoughts on Ashley’s feud with Gabriela?

  1. You don’t need 3 ranks on a 3 person team. It only causes resentment. Make them both equal and foster teamwork vs competition. Perhaps this is done on purpose to create drama for TV show?
