‘When Calls The Heart’ Season 9: Will Rosemary & Lee Finally Become Parents?
At the end of When Calls The Heart Season 8, Hearties were disappointed that Rosemary (Pascale Hutton), and Lee (Kavan Smith) did not start a family.
However, after the season, the two You Had Me At Aloha actors shared the reasons why this did not happen.
However, Season 9 is premiering on March 6, and there is some news on the Rosemary and Lee family front. Hearties can thank Pascale Hutton for making this happen in Season 9.

Why When Calls The Heart Couple Rosemary And Lee Didn’t Start Family
Leland and Rosemary Coulter are a When Calls The Heart fan-favorite couple. That means, Hearties are rooting for the couple to add a child to their family.
At the end of last season, ET spoke to Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith about this very thing. Why didn’t Lee and Rosemary start a family? Turns out, this was not due to storytelling, but due to the worldwide circumstances. They promised that they have not “dropped the ball.”
Turns out, the Covid pandemic limited the number of children on set. The restrictions prevented them from bringing another set of twins to the set.
Kavan pointed out that another challenge with bringing more small children to the set offers other obstacles that viewers may not think of. This includes naps and meltdowns.
WCTH already had the Taylor twins, so bringing a second set seemed daunting. But, Pascale does think that Rosemary’s pregnancy would be “hysterical.”
Nonetheless, last May, both Pascale, and Kavan would love to see their characters become parents. Could this come true in Season 9?
Will Rosemary And Lee Finally Start A Family In Season 9?
When Calls The Heart Season 9 is premiering on Sunday, March 6, with a whole new season, and a lot of stories to share. ET’s Deidre Behar spoke to Kavan and Pascale and asked whether the Coulters would finally “expand their family.”
According to Kavan Smith, there will be a solution. “I think that after this season, fans will not need to ask that question anymore, one way or the other.”
I think we have finally found a way to resolve anybody belaboring that question. I think we’re going to address it.
When Calls The Heart’s Pascale Hutton Knows What Fans Want
WCTH’s Pascale Hutton admits she is on the socials and knows that Hearties want Rosemary to become a mother. She even jokes that this is “all I’ve heard about for the last, I don’t know, three, maybe even four seasons!”
Kavan shared that Pascale is the reason that there will be a resolution to the Coulter’s expanding their family. He gives her one hundred percent of the credit.
This is a storyline that the fans have wanted, but almost more than that, Pascale and I have wanted resolution… we really felt strongly that we wanted to address this issue and I’ll give Pascale credit where credit is due. She really spearheaded it this year. She was not going to let it go. She was determined to get an answer. And it’s because of her tenacity that we got it. And the fans will get it too.
However, it does not sound like there will be a direct line to parenthood. Pascale describes this as a “journey” and a ride.”
We see more resolution on that journey than ever, and I’m so pleased with how that story is told this season. It’s complicated, and it’s nuanced, and it’s not easy, it’s not easy. And I’m just so excited for fans to go on the ride with us.
