Sera Gamble Working On ‘Weetzie Bat’ Project For Peacock
Most people know Sera Gamble as showrunner and producer for Netflix’s You, but she has been working on a few projects behind the scenes too. In fact, Gamble just revealed that she is working on an exclusive project with Peacock. It’s way different than what she’s been known for in the past, too.
Sera Gamble Usually Produces Drama Series
Taking a look at Gamble’s IMDB credits you’ll see she’s most well-known for her work producing drama series. She has written for shows like Supernatural and produced television adaptations of several novels. More recently, she has been known for producing the hit series You based on a novel by Caroline Kepnes.
She is still serving as the showrunner for You. However, that isn’t the only project she is working on right now. Gamble confirmed in January 2021 that she would be working with Greg Berlanti on a new Peacock series. It will be based on another novel by Caroline Kepnes called Providence.

That isn’t Gamble’s latest announcement though. Peacock and Gamble are working together on a separate project that is a bit different than what viewers are used to seeing from the producer. She is working on developing a series adaptation of the book Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block.
Weetzie Bat follows Weetzie and her best friend in 1980s Los Angeles. As Weetzie tries to navigate life in L.A., she discovers something amazing. She finds out that magic is real and hiding in plain sight throughout the city. Weetzie discovers she has a talent for finding magic in ordinary everyday things. If she is able to find the magic she needs, she can construct the family and home she’s always been looking for.
When Is The ‘Weetzie Bat’ Series Coming To Peacock?
There have been talks about turning the book into a film, but the TV series is the only thing that has been confirmed. Given the success of shows like Euphoria right now, it is a great time to launch a show like Weetzie Bat.
Sera Gamble is serving as a writer and executive producer for the show. As a former showrunner for Supernatural and co-creator of The Magicians, many people believe that she will be the perfect person to bring the world of Weetzie Bat to life.

Paul Shapiro, Greg Silverman, Vince Gerardis, Chris Schelling, and Liz Lippman will all be among the production credits for the show as well. Universal Content Productions (UCP) is serving as the studio under NBCUniversal productions.
It has not been revealed when Weetzie Bat will begin streaming on Peacock. Sera Gamble is working on multiple projects with the platform right now. So, it could still be a while before we get any sneak peeks.
