Maks Chmerkovskiy is trapped in Ukraine right now. His fans, friends, and family members eagerly await more updates from him as he describes the situation around him right now.

Maks Chmerkovskiy keeps fans updated on his condition on social media

So far, Maks Chmerkovskiy hasn’t been able to leave Ukraine. The government isn’t allowing men between the ages of 18-60 to leave. And Maks previously said he wasn’t trying to cross the Polish border because he heard it wasn’t safe.

But now, it seems like he is finally on his way home. But the escape hasn’t been without some hiccups.

“At one point I got arrested, like, a foot outside of here,” he shared in another Instagram update. “But again, all good, promise. But that was probably the least traumatizing moment in this whole thing as far as Ukraine is concerned, but for me, it was just a reality check.”

Maks doesn’t offer many details about his arrest or what that entailed. But he knows that means it’s time to leave the country.

Maks continues to say that there’s a lot to unpack, but he isn’t in the right mental state to do that right now. At this moment in time, he’s focused on trying to get out safely.

He also asked fans not to panic if he stopped posting on social media. Right now, his main concern is updating his wife, brother, and parents. Everyone wants Maks Chmerkovskiy to return to the United States safely, but his family comes first.

Right now, his wife Peta Murgatroyd is asking everyone to pray for Maks’ safe return. She says she’s overwhelmed with the outpouring of kindness, even from random strangers.

Everyone seems to step up and help during this time of crisis

The situation in Ukraine is clearly dire. However, Maks Chmerkovskiy says that everyone is really banding together during these dark times. In the video where he describes his arrest, he also says that Ukrainians are also doing their best to take care of one another.

Even in the United States. people are stepping up to care for Maks’ family too. Peta posted on Instagram yesterday that strangers stopped by to bring her cookies and offer their support.

“Although I’m going through hell right now and I want it all to end…their [sic] is light that shines through the darkness,” the DWTS pro captioned an Instagram post. “Strangers baked me cookies and proudly brought them to my door. They stood there with smiles so wide. Let me repeat….strangers, whom I don’t talk to thought that they should get in their kitchen and bake me cookies. They also took it upon themselves to google if I was allergic to anything, just to make sure they weren’t hurting me.”
