In their blog post announcing the pregnancy, Derick and Jill wrote, “We are excited to announce that God has answered our prayers and we are expecting our rainbow baby due July 2022!”
In response to the pregnancy announcement, Jill and Derick’s fans are sending them lots of love. Fans are very excited for their growing family and can’t wait to meet the new baby in the summer.
The baby will join big brothers, Israel, 6, and Samuel, 4. The family also adopted a dog, Fenna, last year.

On social media, Duggar fans are curious about the term “rainbow baby.” Many of them are talking about Jill Dillard’s pregnancy and the use of the term. It looks like many of her followers have never heard of this before.
According to Healthline, “A rainbow baby is a name coined for a healthy baby born after losing a baby due to miscarriage, infant loss, stillbirth, or neonatal death.”
With the term “rainbow baby,” a miscarriage can be described as a storm or a time of sadness. So, the rainbow baby is the baby that comes after a storm.
Derick and Jill Dillard previously shared that they had experienced a miscarriage in 2021. Jill first spoke out about it in October, revealing they had named the baby they lost River Bliss. This was very hard for the family.
When announcing her pregnancy this weekend, Jill wrote, “Ever since we were devastated last fall by the miscarriage of our sweet baby, River Bliss, we have prayed that, if it was God’s will, he would bless us with another baby.”
Fans are glad to see that Jill is going to have a baby after her difficult loss. So far, the pregnancy appears to be going well. Hopefully, Jill will have more updates to share soon. She did mention that they are looking forward to finding out the baby’s gender soon.
