Christine Brown was not just leaving a husband when she announced her divorce in November 2021. She was leaving a whole family unit and that takes a lot of courage. A lot went into Christine discovering who she was and that she had the strength to walk away. So, who exactly were these unsung heroes that helped her find her new happiness? They were casually mentioned throughout part three of Sister Wives: One on One.

Christine Brown Knows What She DOESN’T Want

For a very long time, Christine was extremely subservient to her husband Kody and their family. As Kody said, when she entered the family, she was like a breath of fresh air. She eased the tension between Meri and Janelle and added a lightness. Though this was her natural persona, she felt she had to try extra hard. As seen in Season 1 of Sister Wives, Christine was the primary caretaker of her and Janelle’s then eleven children.

She was the homemaker, the teacher, the yes sir wife. After a certain point, Christine wore herself ragged only thinking about everyone else and not herself. She had birthed six children and helped raised this plural family. There were times she questioned polygamy to which Kody never validated her feelings. He now admits that was where he was very wrong. When she realized they were never moving back to Utah, Christine felt so betrayed by Kody.

She believed he fed her lies to pacify her and that was a breaking point. Meri came to comfort her, saying she had been where she was and understood the pain and frustration. However, Christine saw the state of Meri and Kody’s marriage. She knew she did not want that. When a non-intimate marriage was offered, that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Now, Christine is truly happy and she has a few people to thank for helping her see the light.

The Unsung Heroes

They say it takes a village. It actually only took a few people to help Christine Brown see maybe her small village just was not right for her. In part three of the tell-all, Christine shared who finally helped her see she needed to stop always giving in. She had come to a point where she was always saying yes to Kody and the family. Being the perfect sister wife was taking a toll on her and her father was the one who recognized it. He told her she had to start saying no. That was when she pulled back and that was when the problems really started.

Christine had a voice and she maintains that Kody heard her, he just did not listen. Another person who helped was their therapist. She pulled out all of the garbage in between them and it proved Kody holds grudges a lot longer than Christine. This is something he vehemently denied. The smallest hero is Christine’s cat. Kody was putting up the door to keep her cat away from her inventory. Due to this, she was forced to ask why he was truly installing a door and he admitted they were not going to have an intimate marriage.
