Former Counting On star Joy Duggar is being called out online for what she’s recently shared about her three-year-old son, Gideon. Might the Duggar daughter be violating her son’s rights to medical privacy?

As we reported, Joy shared an update on her son over the weekend, revealing he’s in therapy. She uploaded a couple of YouTube videos about her concerns about Gideon, as well as the evaluation process. She and her husband, Austin Forsyth, feared that Gideon was falling behind. So, they sought out professional help.

Along the way, however, Joy revealed a lot of information about her son, including his private medical information. Rather than giving her young son the right to medical privacy, she opted to share these details online with her massive audience.

Joy Duggar is under fire for revealing her son’s personal information.

On social media, blogger Katie Joy Paulson from Without a Crystal Ball is speaking out against Joy Duggar’s recent actions. She dislikes the fact that Joy recorded her son’s screening and shared it publicly.

Joy has over one million Instagram followers and nearly 150,000 subscribers on YouTube. Just five hours after uploading the video of Gideon, the Duggar daughter has received over 15,000 views. So, it’s getting a lot of attention. Many people have now seen part of her son’s medical information.

Katie Joy points out Joy’s hypocrisy, writing, “Child screening is not public information. Joy Anna sued the city of Springdale for releasing her confidential interview with police in 2006. Now a confidential screening for her son is turned into content for her channel. She’s also click baited the situation into two videos. If Joy Anna was angry about her privacy being exploited by the police, she should not be turning around and exploiting her son.”

In the comments section of her post, many fans are agreeing with the blogger’s sentiments. They dislike that Joy Duggar has made her son’s medical details public, especially when he’s far too young to consent to this.

So, do you think that Joy Duggar is violating her son Gideon’s medical privacy? Or do you think it’s okay that she’s sharing so many details online? Share your thoughts in the comments section below. 1. It is not wrong for a parent to share info on their children. HIPPA only applies to medical professionals. If we apply this logic than all parents who have a social media would be in the wrong. The child’s consent lies with the parents.

  2. Katie Joy is such a hypocrite and a glorified wannabe paparazzi. What happened to Joy-Anna and her sisters was a violation of privacy, because the POLICE violated the privacy of minors who had been MOLESTED. HIPPA is for medical and educational professionals. A parent can divulge what they choose. As a special needs parent, I appreciate that She and Austin have chosen to show what thus process is like. It can be extremely overwhelming as a parent and this may help answer questions and alleviate fears other families may have. What they have chosen to do has the potential to help many. Katie Joy needs to stop and think before she speaks.

  3. Given the amount of information Katie Joy shares about her son, it’s pretty hypocritical of her to call out Joy Anna. I think it’s admirable that Joy Anna is sharing the process for other parents who may be going thru the same thing or for other parents who may not even realize that they’re child is delayed and may need help as well.
