Netflix Releasing K-Drama Movie ’20th Century Girl’: Release Date, Details

K-Dramas keep gaining traction on Netflix, with shows like Squid Game, but this time it’s a romantic comedy, 20th Century Girl. Releasing in 2022, the movie stars much-loved actress, Kim Yoo Jung, who is making her Netflix debut. Read on to find out what we know so far about this romantic comedy coming to the streamer soon.

Netflix K-Drama 20th Century Girl

A number of South Korean movies will be coming to Netflix this year, including 20th Century Girl, which has recently completed filming. Meanwhile, the K-Drama romantic comedy will see the Netflix debut of one of South Korea’s most-loved actors. Kim Yoo Jung is locally known as Korea’s Little Sister, due to her popularity there.

20th Century Girl is written and directed by Ban Woo Ri and few details are currently out there. However, while Netflix has not yet announced an official release date, we do know the movie will arrive at some time in 2022.

Plot of the romantic comedy

As noted by What’s On Netflix, Bo Ra (Kim Yoo Jung) is a 17-year-old high school student and a member of the broadcasting club at her school. She is best friends with Yeon Du (Roh Yoon Seo) and they both attend the same school. Yeon Du has a massive crush on Hyun Jin (Park Jung Woo). When Yeon Du asks Bo Ra to find out everything she can about Hyun Jin, when she begins to watch him closely, she also falls in love.

The IMDb Pro page gives the synopsis, “In 1999, a teen with a heart of gold begins keeping close tabs on a popular classmate as a favor to her smitten best friend.”

Cast of Netflix K-Drama 20th Century Girl

As mentioned above, Kim Yoo Jung stars as Na Bo Ra. She has previously starred in Lovers of the Red Sky, Love in the Moonlight and Backstreet Rookie. Meanwhile, her best friend, Yeon Du is played by Roh Yoon Seo, who starred in Our Blues. The school hunk in question, Baek Hyun Jin, is played by Park Jung Woo. He has previously starred in Love Playlist, Hospital Playlist and D.P.

Byeon Woo Seok stars in the role of Pung Woon Ho and has been seen in Record of Youth, Moonshine and Office Watch 3. Other actors, whose roles have not yet been announced include Gong Myung, seen in Be Melodramatic, Feel Good to Die and The Bride of Habek. Meanwhile, actor Ong Seong Wu has starred in More Than Friends, Would You Like Cup of Coffee? And Moment at Eighteen.

Current status of the K-Drama movie

The movie 20th Century Girl is currently in post-production. Thanks for the official IMDb Pro page for the movie, we know it was filmed in late 2021. Meanwhile, filming was completed on January 21 this year. According to that page, the movie will debut in 2022.
