During Season 9 of Vanderpump Rules, besties Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval had to break some sad news to their boss, Lisa Vanderpump. The duo was branching out and starting their own bar after the success of their TomTom venture with Vanderpump.
Of course, the SUR owner already knew about the new bar, thanks to Jax Taylor taking one last parting shot at his friendship with Sandoval.
During the reunion, the new owners revealed an early 2022 opening for Schwartz & Sandy’s, a name that didn’t sit well with viewers OR Katie Maloney.

Amid opening the new bar, Tom Schwartz gave fans quite a scare. He posted a video on his Instagram Stories from a hospital bed. The camera pans too quickly for viewers to see who exactly is in the bed. However, a man’s arm was visible. As the footage moved to an iPad playing Spaceballs, the words “The Schwartz is still strong” came across the screen.
Is Tom Schwartz in the hospital? Worried fans took to Reddit to speculate what was going on. One eagle-eyed fan noticed that the mysterious patient was a fall risk, based on the yellow hospital bracelet. See the worrisome video below:
Vanderpump Rules star returns to Instagram with an update – Is he okay?
Either through DMs or scrolling Reddit, the Vanderpump Rules star was alerted to concern from fans. He hopped back on his Instagram Stories to share a brief update.
“That’s my dad, not me.” He also thanked fans for checking in on him. However, he didn’t elaborate at this time about why his dad is in the hospital.
‘In Love’ with wife Katie Maloney
Tom Schwartz was feeling the love late last week. He posted a close-up photo of himself and wife Katie Maloney. “It’s Friday, I’m in love,” he captioned the sweet snap.
Co-star James Kennedy called the photo “gangsta,” while alum Stassi Schroeder praised the photo’s caption.
Several of his followers dubbed the duo as “couple goals.”
