Bravo fans called out both Andy Cohen and Lisa Vanderpump for their tone-deaf comments. The Vanderpump Rules Season 9 reunion special aired this week. Host Andy Cohen asked Charli Burnett about her weight struggles. The cast member has been open about her struggles with body image and food.

As TV Shows Ace previously reported, Charli shared before-and-after photos of her weight loss. In her Instagram post, she admitted that she “fell into a deep depression eating & drinking every single day.” She gained weight at the start of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. Charli said she “gained over 45+ pounds.” She rebuilt her body through bodybuilding and she’s at peace with her relationship with food.

Andy Cohen and Lisa Vanderpump ask an insensitive question

During the reunion special, which premiered on Tuesday, January 25, Andy Cohen asked Charli how she got back into shape. The Pump Rules star admitted that it took “a lot of hard work, a lot of dedication, and a lot of discipline.” Lisa Vanderpump then wanted to know how she put on the weight in the first place.

“Well, I did a little bit of binge drinking during COVID, a lot of eating,” Charlie responded.

Fans didn’t take well to their questions. They took to the Vanderpumpump Rules subreddit to discuss the reunion special. One user titled the thread: “Andy’s insensitivity.” Most agreed that both Andy Cohen and Lisa Vanderpump were “tone deaf” with the way they handled her issues.

“That was SO insensitive and I was LIVID,” the original poster wrote. “You know, we ALL know she has issues with food and the first thing you address is her physical appearance?”

Some of the fans took to the comment section to share their thoughts. Most of them called out Andy Cohen for the way he handled the matter. Some are not shocked to learn that he was being insensitive once again. Others didn’t appreciate it when Vanderpump asked Charli how much weight she gained.

  • “Andy? Being tone deaf? You don’t say!”
  • “Andy is gross. Love his network though.”
  • “If I had a dollar for every insensitive and or misogynistic comment LVP has made on Bravo, I could pay all of her employees a living wage.”
“Lisa is always dealing out her internalized misogyny.”

Charli Burnett spoke out about her issues with food before

On Vanderpump Rules Season 9, Charli was more transparent about her issues with food. She shared that she was forced to eat her entire meal when she was a kid. This affected her over the years. When she made her debut during Season 8, Charli admitted that she never had pasta before.

She has since tried pasta and many other foods. The cast had a potluck this season in which they brought different meals from home. In an interview with The Buzz, Charli said that she worked on her issues “through therapy.” Charli learned to love her body and improve her relationship with food.

  1. I think since we all new about her weight and how good-hearted looksnow, looks now, nice to know how much she lost and how she did it

  2. I don’t think there was anything insensitive or inappropriate about either Andy Cohen’s or LVP’s questions and comments. Charli herself posted pictures of her in her bikini with her weight gain and then after photos. Yes she openly discussed her food issues herself so obviously has no adversions to being completely upfront and honest about it — as she should; Charli has no reason to be embarrassed or shy about any of it. She should be proud that she took ownership of her issues and actively managed to change them.
