How I Met Your Father, the HIMYM spinoff is finally happening! This is the new Hulu series that is about finding love by swiping left, sprinkled with a lot of OG Easter eggs sprinkled in the mix.
Starring is Hilary Duff, who plays Sophie, a photographer. A self-professed romantic, she is nearly 30 and looking for the love of her life, in New York City.
In the preview, it is 2050, and an older and wiser Sophie, now played by Kim Cattrall, is telling her son about how she met his father. We never see the son, but we get to hear about the “sexy bits” that led Sophie to meet her Baby Daddy.
It is 2022, and Sophie is on a Tinder date that is a disaster. But, she is told to repeatedly tell herself, “Today is the first chapter of my next great love story.” Will Sophie get there? Not without a few quirks, twists, and hysterical stories that will bring her one step closer to happiness.
Like How I Met Your Mother, How I Met Your Father includes romantically damaged friends, who go through zany dates, and have their own emotional baggage and quirks.
Those friends include roommate Val (Francia Raisa), Charlie (Tom Ainsley), Sid (Suraj Sharma), Hannah (Ashley Reyes), Jess (Chris Lowell), and Ellen (Tien Tran).
When Is Hilary Duff’s How I Met Your Father Dropping?
How I Met Your Father Season 1 is on Hulu. The first two episodes drop on Tuesday, January 18. They are entitled “Pilot,” and “FOMO.”
After the first week, the remaining eight episodes drop every Tuesday, on Hulu.
Hilary Duff Excited For New Series
When the How I Met Your Father premiere date was announced, Hilary Duff went to Instagram to share her love of the show, and her co-stars.

The Younger star also has shared some tidbits about Sophie. One of those is that she is Queen of the selfie!

Could How I Met Your Mother Ending Keep Viewers Away?
There could be a concern to Hilary Duff and the HIMYF cast, and that is the ending of the original. Many people who watched it were shocked that Ted was talking about Robin.
However, many who love the ending contend that throughout the nine seasons, Ted did mention how Love In The Time Of Cholera was his favorite book, and the HIMYM story and ending mirrored that book.
But can the fans forgive the HIMYM ending and watch the reboot?
On the other hand, Hilary Duff has had to deal with some critical comments on cast chemistry, while pointing out that the OG had nine years to build that chemistry. That does take time, but her popularity and charisma should keep fans watching, and learning to love this new group of NYC friends.
